Product Consultant Jobs in Illinois: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a product consultant in Illinois?
Most product consultants in Illinois enter the field with a bachelor's degree in business, computer science, or information systems, then build experience in product management, business analysis, or technical consulting. Illinois does not require a state-issued license for this role. Earning a vendor certification from Salesforce, SAP, or Microsoft significantly strengthens candidacy with the large technology and consulting firms headquartered in the Chicago area.
Which companies hire product consultants in Illinois?
Companies currently hiring product consultants in Illinois include Google, Caterpillar, and EY, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Illinois's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and major consulting firms in the Chicago metro makes it one of the more active hiring markets for this role in the region.
Which Illinois cities have the most product consultant jobs?
Chicago and Peoria account for the largest share of product consultant openings in Illinois. Chicago drives the bulk of demand through its deep concentration of enterprise technology companies, management consulting firms, and financial institutions, while suburban markets like Naperville and Schaumburg add openings tied to the large corporate campuses located in Chicago's western corridor.
Are there remote product consultant jobs in Illinois?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 40% of product consultant openings tied to Illinois are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how much of the work involves software configuration, client calls, and documentation rather than on-site presence. Client-facing implementation phases and discovery workshops are the parts of the role most likely to require in-person attendance.
How can I get hired as a product consultant in Illinois with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a business analyst, solutions analyst, or customer success role at a technology company or consulting firm in Chicago. Large Illinois employers such as Accenture, Deloitte, and Salesforce run associate or analyst programs that place candidates with business or technical degrees into product-adjacent tracks. Building a portfolio around a vendor certification, such as Salesforce Administrator or SAP Certified Associate, gives candidates without direct consulting experience a concrete credential that hiring managers in Illinois recognize.
Where can I find and apply to product consultant jobs in Illinois?
You can find and apply to product consultant jobs in Illinois on Migrate Mate, which lists current Illinois openings across the Chicago metro and surrounding suburbs. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly to each one.
