Sales And Business Development Jobs in Washington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a sales and business development job in Washington?
Start by targeting the sectors that drive Washington hiring: government contractors, trade associations, policy-adjacent tech firms, and professional services organizations clustered downtown and in Tysons Corner. Candidates with experience selling to federal agencies or membership-based organizations stand out here. Familiarity with procurement cycles, proposal processes, or stakeholder relationship management gives you a concrete edge over generalist applicants in this market.
Which companies hire sales and business developments in Washington?
Washington sales and business development roles are posted by Esri, CVS Health, and Booz Allen Hamilton and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Washington's hiring base skews toward consulting firms, defense contractors, nonprofit associations, and technology companies with federal client portfolios.
Are there remote sales and business development jobs in Washington?
Yes, though availability depends heavily on the role, since field sales and client-facing business development positions tend to require in-person presence. About 67% of sales and business development openings tied to Washington are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with flexibility most common in account management, inside sales, and partnership development functions rather than enterprise or government-facing roles.
How can I get a sales and business development job in Washington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Washington is through business development representative or sales coordinator roles at mid-size government contractors, trade associations, or SaaS companies with federal practices. Many of these employers hire entry-level candidates and promote from within. Volunteering with local chambers or D.C.-based industry groups builds the relationship-oriented profile Washington employers value, and associate or coordinator titles frequently transition into full sales development roles within one to two years.
Which industries hire the most sales and business developments in Washington?
The sectors hiring the most sales and business developments in Washington are Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Education, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026.
