Position Title: School Counselor (College and Career)

Compensation: Base $74,500. Comprehensive Benefits: Health (Medical, Vision, Dental), Short Term Disability, AAE, & Pension.

The High School Counselor (College and Career) provides academic, college, and career counseling to students in grades 9–12 as they navigate postsecondary pathways. This role supports academic planning, leads the college application process, promotes career readiness, and offers both individual and group advising. The counselor also manages related programs, reports data, and collaborates with college admissions and workforce partners, while guiding students and families on financial aid, scholarships, and admissions trends.

Qualifications:

• Master’s degree in School Counseling or a related field from an accredited college or university
• New Jersey/New York State Certification for School Counselor
• Demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, using proper grammar and vocabulary.
• Understand the requirement to maintain confidentiality concerning charter school-related matters.

Prior to employment, the following must be addressed:

• Required to complete a criminal history background check to prove that the individual has not been convicted of a crime or a disorderly person’s offense in accordance with EDN Section 2854 (a-2).
• Provide evidence that health is adequate to fulfill the job functions and responsibilities with reasonable accommodation pursuant to 42 U.S.C. 12101 and in accordance with EDN Section 2854 (a-2).
• Pass the state required Mantoux Intradermal Tuberculin Test.
• A valid driver’s license is preferred.
• Meet such alternatives to the above qualifications as the CEO finds appropriate and acceptable.

Performance Responsibilities:

• The College and Career Counselor at iLearn Schools Inc. is responsible for executing the organization's mission while upholding the highest ethical standards and complying with all state and federal regulations. This multifaceted role involves providing comprehensive academic and postsecondary advising through individual meetings, group sessions, and parent workshops focused on college applications, financial aid, and career exploration. Beyond direct student support, the counselor manages the master schedule, fosters relationships with higher education institutions, and tracks matriculation data to inform administrative planning. By promoting advanced academic opportunities like AP and Dual Enrollment and pursuing continuous professional development, the counselor ensures all students are equipped to develop and achieve realistic yet aspirational postsecondary goals.

Reports to: School Director

Supervise: Students

Terms of Employment: Ten-month employee

Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with New Jersey state law (Title 18A) and the provisions of the iLearn Schools policy on evaluation of certified personnel.
