Entry Level School Nurse Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level school nurse job?
Entry level school nurse employers look for candidates with an active RN license, a completed nursing degree, and any hands-on clinical experience such as rotations, internships, or volunteer work in pediatric or community health settings. Highlighting CPR certification, strong communication skills, and familiarity with student health protocols gives candidates a clear edge at this stage, even with minimal paid experience.
Which companies hire entry level school nurses?
Companies hiring entry level school nurses right now include Spring Independent School District, San Francisco Unified School District, and Emory University, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of public school districts, private school networks, and staffing agencies that place nurses across K-12 and higher education campuses.
Are there remote entry level school nurse jobs?
Yes, though most school nursing roles require an on-site presence given the nature of student care. About 3% of entry level school nurse openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those positions typically involve telehealth triage, health coordination, or administrative nursing support rather than direct in-person student care.
Are these new grad school nurse jobs?
Yes, these listings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior school nurse roles. A posting is generally new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internship or clinical rotation hours in place of paid work history, or explicitly invites candidates who are newly licensed. Searching for these signals helps new grad applicants find roles where they compete.
Which industries hire the most entry level school nurses?
Entry Level school nurse roles concentrate in Education, Healthcare & Medical Services, and Non-Profit & Social Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors drive hiring at the entry level because they depend on consistent, on-site health coverage for students and rely on steady pipelines of newly licensed nurses to fill those frontline positions.
