Security And Compliance Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a security and compliance professional in Oklahoma?
Most security and compliance roles in Oklahoma do not require a state-issued license, but employers consistently expect a bachelor's degree in information security, accounting, or business alongside a recognized certification such as CISSP, CISA, or CISM. Oklahoma's energy and financial sectors place particular weight on candidates familiar with NERC CIP or SOX frameworks. Building experience through an internal audit or IT role at one of the state's large energy companies or regional banks is a common entry path.
How much do security and compliances make in Oklahoma?
Security and compliances in Oklahoma earn a median of about $94,000 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $56,050 for the lowest 10% to over $158,320 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire security and compliance professionals in Oklahoma?
Companies currently hiring security and compliances in Oklahoma include APMEX, InterBank, and BOK Financial, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Oklahoma's concentration of energy producers, regional banks, and defense contractors means demand tends to be durable across economic cycles rather than driven by a single industry.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most security and compliance jobs?
Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Norman lead for security and compliance openings in Oklahoma. Oklahoma City dominates because it is home to the state's largest energy headquarters, major regional banks, and federal agency offices, while Tulsa's refining and pipeline sector anchors a second cluster of compliance roles, and Edmond and Norman contribute openings tied to financial services firms and healthcare organizations connected to the University of Oklahoma Health System.
Are there remote security and compliance jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, and more than most fields, because security and compliance work is fundamentally analytical and documentation-driven rather than tied to a physical site. About 33% of security and compliance openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly the role has shifted toward distributed teams. Policy development, audit coordination, and GRC platform administration are the functions most likely to be offered with full or partial remote flexibility.
How can I get hired as a security and compliance professional in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is landing an IT helpdesk, internal audit associate, or risk analyst role at one of Oklahoma's large energy companies or regional banks, then moving laterally into compliance once you understand the regulatory environment. Devon Energy and MidFirst Bank have rotational or associate programs that bring in candidates without deep compliance backgrounds. Earning the CompTIA Security+ or an associate-level ISACA credential while in that adjacent role signals readiness to hiring managers and accelerates the transition.
Where can I find and apply to security and compliance jobs in Oklahoma?
You can find and apply to security and compliance jobs in Oklahoma on Migrate Mate, which lists current Oklahoma openings across industries and experience levels. Search for roles that match your background and seniority, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
