Attorney Jobs in Oklahoma: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a attorney in Oklahoma?
To become a licensed attorney in Oklahoma, you must earn a Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school, pass the Oklahoma Bar Examination administered by the Oklahoma Bar Association, and complete a character and fitness review. After passing, you are admitted to the Oklahoma Bar Association, which is required before you can practice law in the state. Some attorneys licensed in other states may qualify for admission by reciprocity under Oklahoma Bar rules.
How much do attorneys make in Oklahoma?
Attorneys in Oklahoma earn a median of about $103,060 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $57,950 for the lowest 10% to over $207,340 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire attorneys in Oklahoma?
Oklahoma attorney roles are posted by Epic, Jobot, and Ogletree Deakins and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Oklahoma's strong energy sector, tribal gaming industry, and state government agencies consistently generate demand for attorneys across a wide range of specialties.
Which Oklahoma cities have the most attorney jobs?
Oklahoma City, Tulsa, and Durant are the Oklahoma cities with the most attorney openings. Oklahoma City leads due to its concentration of state government offices, energy company headquarters, and large regional law firms, while Tulsa supports a robust legal market built around its energy, finance, and healthcare industries.
Are there remote attorney jobs in Oklahoma?
Yes, but they are less common than in purely desk-based fields, since many attorney roles involve court appearances, client meetings, and in-person depositions. About 23% of attorney openings tied to Oklahoma are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, which reflects that some work, such as legal research, contract drafting, and compliance review, can be done off-site. Transactional, compliance, and in-house counsel roles tend to offer the most flexibility.
How can I get hired as a attorney in Oklahoma with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a summer associate or law clerk position during law school, which many Oklahoma City and Tulsa firms use as a direct pipeline to first-year associate offers. Large employers such as the Oklahoma Attorney General's office, GableGotwals, and McAfee and Taft run structured associate programs for new graduates. Candidates who complete a clerkship with an Oklahoma state or federal court gain a significant edge. Entry-level roles in compliance, contract review, or legal aid organizations also provide a foothold for those building their first years of experience.
