Security Manager Jobs in Austin: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a security manager job in Austin?
Focus your search on Austin's enterprise tech companies in the Domain and North Austin, the major hospital networks along the I-35 corridor, and the financial services firms concentrated downtown. Candidates who combine physical security experience with familiarity in cybersecurity risk management stand out here. Austin employers also respond well to applicants who can demonstrate prior leadership over multi-site or campus-scale operations, given how spread out the city's corporate campuses tend to be.
Which companies hire security managers in Austin?
Austin security manager roles are posted by Deloitte, Amazon, and Preferred Technologies and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Austin's mix of large tech campuses, healthcare networks, and a growing financial services hub means hiring comes from a broad range of employer types rather than a single dominant sector.
Are there remote security manager jobs in Austin?
Yes, though it depends on the role type: hands-on physical security and facility oversight positions are almost always on-site, while information security management, compliance, and risk roles are far more remote-friendly. About 46% of security manager openings tied to Austin are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, with most of those concentrated in the tech and financial services segments. Fully remote roles here tend to fall under information security or corporate security strategy functions.
How can I get a security manager job in Austin with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Austin is moving up from a security supervisor or operations coordinator role within one of the city's large tech campuses or healthcare systems, which regularly promote from within. Austin's university and event venue sector, including the many large live-event spaces citywide, also hires entry-level security leads. Building familiarity with access control systems and incident reporting software used by Austin's tech employers gives candidates a concrete edge over those with only general security backgrounds.
Which industries hire the most security managers in Austin?
Most security manager openings in Austin sit in Education, Technology & Software, and Consulting & Professional Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Austin's rapid corporate campus expansion, large-scale healthcare infrastructure, and concentration of financial technology firms all drive consistent demand for security leadership at both site and regional levels.
