Senior Data Science Engineer Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior data science engineer job in Boston?
Boston's strongest hiring comes from biotech and pharma companies in Kendall Square and the Seaport, financial services firms in the Back Bay, and enterprise tech companies throughout the innovation corridor connecting Cambridge to downtown. Candidates who stand out typically bring production-grade ML experience, proficiency with cloud platforms, and domain knowledge relevant to life sciences or quantitative finance, which are the two fields driving the most senior-level openings in the city.
Which companies hire senior data science engineers in Boston?
Boston senior data science engineer roles are posted by XPO, Collegium Pharmaceutical, and BNY and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The Boston market is particularly deep in biotech spinouts, established financial services firms, and healthtech companies, many of which maintain large in-house data science teams rather than relying on consulting or contract work.
Are there remote senior data science engineer jobs in Boston?
Yes, though availability varies since senior data science engineering often requires close collaboration with product and engineering teams, making hybrid more common than fully remote. About 56% of senior data science engineer openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, with the most flexible arrangements found in enterprise software and fintech roles rather than in regulated biotech or clinical data positions.
How can I get a senior data science engineer job in Boston with little or no experience?
