About Watershed
Watershed is the enterprise sustainability platform. Companies like Airbnb, Carlyle Group, FedEx, Visa, and Dr. Martens use Watershed to manage climate and ESG data, produce audit-ready metrics for voluntary and regulatory reporting including CSRD, and drive real decarbonization. We are looking for team members who love product-building, want to work hard at a mission-oriented startup, and will collaborate with us in shaping the culture of a growing team.
We have offices in San Francisco, New York, Denver, London, Paris, Berlin, Sydney, Mexico City, and remote team members across the US and Europe. We hope that you'll be interested in joining us!
The role
Watershed is a software platform for running a world-class climate program. We measure our success in the carbon reduction achievements of our customers. We are looking for team members to join our team focused on delivering outcomes for our Financial Institution customers.
You’ll work on the team turning Watershed’s data layer into an intelligence platform: BI-grade querying, AI-powered discovery and analysis, and the schema architecture underneath it all. The goal is for customers to get answers inside Watershed—not export to Excel.
What you could work on:
Build new interactive data visualizations to help climate leads understand their company's emissions.
Build APIs to unify carbon data access for customers and other engineers.
Build tools that help financial institutions measure and report emissions across their portfolio companies.
Build tools for customers to effectively ingest and interpret business data.
You will:
Ship code to production on day one
Collaborate with product, design, climate science, and data science to build and iterate on software that helps our customers understand their climate data
You might be a fit if you:
Have 6+ years of software engineering industry experience, preferably in Node.js web development or data pipelines
Have experience building scalable software starting from user needs
Are excited to join a startup and are ready to help evolve a growing engineering team
This role will be based in our New York City office.
Must be willing to work from an office 4 days per week (except for remote roles)
Watershed has hub offices in San Francisco, New York, London, and Mexico City and satellite offices in Denver, Sydney, Paris, and Berlin. Where we have offices, employees are expected to be in office for 4 days per week. Certain jobs are open to being remote and will be specifically noted on the jobs page and in the job description if so.
What’s the interview process like?
It starts the same for every candidate: getting to know the team members through 1 to 2 conversations about Watershed, your experience, and your interests. Next steps can vary by role, but usual next steps are a skill or experience interview (e.g. a coding interview for an engineer, a portfolio review for a designer, deeper experience call for other roles) which leads to a virtual or in person interview panel. We prioritize transparency and lack of surprise throughout the process.
What if I need accommodations for my interview?
At Watershed, we are dedicated to ensuring an inclusive recruitment process. We provide reasonable accommodations for candidates with disabilities, long-term conditions, mental health needs, religious observances, neurodivergence, or pregnancy-related support requirements. If you need assistance during your process, please contact your recruiter.

Senior Fullstack Developer Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior fullstack developer in New York?
Reaching the senior level in New York typically requires a bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a closely related field, combined with several years of hands-on fullstack experience building and shipping real products. New York employers do not require a state-issued license for software engineers, but strong portfolios, open-source contributions, and cloud certifications from AWS or Google carry real weight. Many engineers in New York move into senior roles after time at startups, fintech firms, or large enterprise shops where cross-functional ownership is the norm.
How much do senior fullstack developers make in New York?
Senior fullstack developers in New York earn a median of about $166,180 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $97,430 for the lowest 10% to over $224,590 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire senior fullstack developers in New York?
Employers hiring senior fullstack developers in New York right now include BNY, accrete, and Anthropic, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. New York's dense concentration of financial services, media, and enterprise technology companies means senior fullstack roles appear across a wider range of industries here than in most other states.
Which New York cities have the most senior fullstack developer jobs?
New York, Albany, and New York account for the most senior fullstack developer openings in New York. New York City dominates because of its outsized concentration of fintech, advertising technology, and media engineering teams, while demand in secondary metros like Albany and Buffalo is largely driven by state government technology initiatives, university-affiliated research organizations, and regional healthcare systems that have expanded their digital platforms in recent years.
Are there remote senior fullstack developer jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 58% of senior fullstack developer openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting how naturally the role lends itself to distributed work. Backend and API-focused positions tend to be the most fully remote, while roles that require close collaboration with product and design teams in New York City offices are more likely to require at least partial on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a senior fullstack developer in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is through a junior or associate software engineer role at a New York-area company, then building toward senior responsibilities over time. Large New York employers like JPMorgan Chase, Verizon, and Bloomberg run structured new-graduate and early-career engineering programs that bring in candidates without professional experience. A strong GitHub portfolio demonstrating fullstack projects, a relevant bootcamp credential from a program recognized by New York employers, or a lateral move from a QA or data engineering role are the most common doors into the field locally.
Where can I find and apply to senior fullstack developer jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to senior fullstack developer jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the New York market. Search the listings for roles that match your stack and experience level, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
