Senior Learning Experience Designer Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a senior learning experience designer in Michigan?
Most senior learning experience designer roles in Michigan require a bachelor's degree in instructional design, educational technology, or a closely related field, with many employers preferring a master's degree. There is no state-issued license for this role in Michigan. Candidates typically build several years of experience in instructional design or corporate training, develop a portfolio of completed projects, and earn industry credentials such as the ATD Certified Professional in Talent Development to strengthen their candidacy.
Which companies hire senior learning experience designers in Michigan?
Michigan senior learning experience designer roles are posted by Ford Motor Company, May Mobility, and Michigan Technological University and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Michigan's concentration of large automotive manufacturers, major health systems, and research universities creates consistent demand for experienced designers across corporate and institutional settings.
Which Michigan cities have the most senior learning experience designer jobs?
Ann Arbor, Detroit, and Lansing have the most senior learning experience designer openings in Michigan. Detroit leads because of its dense cluster of automotive headquarters, major health systems, and large corporate L&D departments, while Grand Rapids draws openings from healthcare and manufacturing employers, and Ann Arbor benefits from the University of Michigan and a growing technology and research sector.
Are there remote senior learning experience designer jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 52% of senior learning experience designer openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how well the core work, designing digital courses, building assets in authoring tools, and collaborating asynchronously with stakeholders, translates to distributed settings. Roles requiring in-person facilitation or close collaboration with manufacturing floor teams tend to be the most on-site.
How can I get hired as a senior learning experience designer in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic path is to start in an instructional designer or learning coordinator role at a Michigan employer and build toward senior status. Large Michigan health systems such as Spectrum Health and Henry Ford Health, as well as the University of Michigan and Michigan State University, regularly hire for entry-level instructional design positions. Building a portfolio of sample eLearning modules using Articulate Storyline or Rise, and pursuing the ATD credential, can compensate for limited years of experience when applying to these employers.
Where can I find and apply to senior learning experience designer jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to senior learning experience designer jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current Michigan openings. Search the available roles, find the ones that match your experience and preferences, and apply directly to whichever positions fit.
