UX Research Intern Jobs in Michigan: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ux research intern in Michigan?
Becoming a ux research intern in Michigan starts with enrollment in a relevant degree program, most commonly in UX design, human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, or information science at institutions like the University of Michigan, Michigan State University, or Lawrence Technological University. There is no state-issued license for this role. Employers look for coursework in research methods, a portfolio with at least one case study, and hands-on experience from class projects or student organizations focused on design.
Which companies hire ux research interns in Michigan?
Companies currently hiring ux research interns in Michigan include Meijer, Stryker, and Stellantis, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Michigan's automotive and healthcare technology industries drive the largest share of these openings, meaning candidates with interest in mobility or digital health products will find the most consistent activity.
Which Michigan cities have the most ux research intern jobs?
Warren, Detroit, and Lansing account for the most ux research intern openings in Michigan. Detroit and its surrounding suburbs generate the heaviest volume because of the concentration of automotive and mobility technology employers headquartered there, while Ann Arbor draws openings tied to the University of Michigan and its affiliated research and technology spin-offs, and Grand Rapids contributes openings from its growing health systems and furniture and product design firms.
Are there remote ux research intern jobs in Michigan?
Yes, and more than most fields, since ux research work is largely screen-based and interview-driven. About 100% of ux research intern openings tied to Michigan are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how naturally the role translates to distributed teams. Moderated usability sessions, survey analysis, and synthesis work are the tasks most commonly performed fully remotely, while in-person contextual research or lab-based studies are more likely to require an on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a ux research intern in Michigan with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying through structured internship programs at large Michigan employers before your final year of study. Ford, General Motors, and Spectrum Health all run defined intern cohorts that accept candidates with limited professional experience if they bring a strong portfolio. Student design organizations at Michigan universities, such as UXD clubs or human-computer interaction labs, offer project work that fills that portfolio. Lateral experience in customer service research, survey administration, or data entry at healthcare or technology firms also opens doors when framed around research skills.
Where can I find and apply to ux research intern jobs in Michigan?
You can find and apply to ux research intern jobs in Michigan on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings, identify the roles that match your background and availability, and apply directly to the ones that fit.
