UX Research Intern Jobs in Minnesota: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ux research intern in Minnesota?
Most UX research intern roles in Minnesota go to students currently enrolled in programs covering human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, information science, or product design. The University of Minnesota's HCI concentration and MCTC's design programs are common pipelines. No state license is required. A portfolio demonstrating at least one end-to-end research project, including a research plan, user sessions, and synthesis, strengthens your application more than any single credential.
Which companies hire ux research interns in Minnesota?
Employers hiring ux research interns in Minnesota right now include Target, Thomson Reuters, and Ameriprise Financial, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The Twin Cities concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters and large healthcare organizations means intern openings appear year-round rather than only during a single recruiting season.
Which Minnesota cities have the most ux research intern jobs?
Minneapolis and Eagan account for the largest share of ux research intern openings in Minnesota. Minneapolis drives the highest volume because it is home to corporate headquarters in retail, financial services, and healthcare technology, while Saint Paul and suburbs like Eden Prairie and Minnetonka contribute openings tied to the large medical device and insurance employers based there.
Are there remote ux research intern jobs in Minnesota?
Yes, and more than many internship categories, because core UX research tasks such as moderated remote interviews, survey design, and synthesis work can be done entirely online. About 67% of ux research intern openings tied to Minnesota are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how broadly design teams have adopted distributed workflows. Usability lab sessions and stakeholder workshops are the tasks most likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a ux research intern in Minnesota with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying through university recruiting portals at companies like Best Buy, Optum, and Target, which run structured intern cohorts specifically designed for students with limited professional experience. Building a case study from a class project, volunteer usability audit, or a self-initiated study on a local nonprofit's site substitutes for paid experience. Adjacent roles such as UX writing intern, product design intern, or customer insights analyst also serve as lateral entry points into research-focused work.
Where can I find and apply to ux research intern jobs in Minnesota?
You can find and apply to ux research intern jobs in Minnesota on Migrate Mate, which lists current Minnesota openings updated in real time. Search by role and location to see what is active, then apply directly to the positions that match your background and availability.
