UX Research Intern Jobs in New York: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ux research intern in New York?
UX research internships in New York do not require a state-issued license, so the path runs through education and portfolio rather than credentialing. Most candidates are enrolled in or recently graduated from programs in human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, information science, or a related discipline at universities such as NYU, Pratt, or Cornell Tech. Building a case study portfolio that documents a research process from recruiting participants through synthesizing findings is the clearest differentiator when applying to New York employers.
Which companies hire ux research interns in New York?
Companies currently hiring ux research interns in New York include Google, Collabera, and PwC, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. New York's concentration of consumer-facing tech companies, financial services firms, and media organizations means internship programs here often emphasize mixed-methods research tied directly to product teams.
Which New York cities have the most ux research intern jobs?
New York, Brooklyn, and Jericho account for the largest share of ux research intern openings in New York. New York City dominates because it hosts the U.S. headquarters or major offices of the tech platforms, media companies, and financial institutions that run the most structured internship programs, while Brooklyn's growing product and startup scene and Albany's civic technology sector generate openings outside the Manhattan core.
Are there remote ux research intern jobs in New York?
Yes, and more than most fields, because UX research work centers on facilitating interviews, synthesizing notes, and presenting findings digitally rather than requiring a fixed physical location. About 33% of ux research intern openings tied to New York are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the role's desk-based and collaboration-tool-driven nature. Moderated usability sessions and stakeholder read-outs are the tasks most commonly conducted fully remotely.
How can I get hired as a ux research intern in New York with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying directly to structured summer internship programs at New York's large consumer tech and media employers, many of which explicitly recruit students without prior industry experience. NYU's Tandon School of Engineering and Cornell Tech both maintain connections to New York employers that offer early-career research roles. Candidates without formal experience often come from adjacent positions such as psychology research assistant, library UX volunteer, or customer insights analyst, and a two- or three-study portfolio carries more weight than a work history in many New York recruiting processes.
Where can I find and apply to ux research intern jobs in New York?
You can find and apply to ux research intern jobs in New York on Migrate Mate, which lists current New York openings updated regularly. Find a role that fits and apply directly through the listing without needing to create a profile or navigate off-platform.
