Job Description — UX Designer
Location: Plano, TX [NO REMOTE OPTION]
AI-Augmented Design Focus
Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced UX Designer on a contract basis to design and continuously improve our enterprise gaming/casino management platform. Beyond core UX craft, this role requires hands-on fluency with AI-assisted design workflows — using AI tools to accelerate ideation, prototyping, content, and design-system work while maintaining a single, consistent brand experience across operational and back-office screens for multiple properties and tenants.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Design end-to-end user experiences — user flows, wireframes, interaction models, and high-fidelity, production-ready UI — for operational (floor/terminal) and back-office contexts.
- Work within and contribute to a single brand design language, reusing shared components and design tokens; vary layout/component selection to fit context rather than creating divergent designs.
- Leverage AI-assisted design tools to accelerate the workflow — rapid concept generation, variant exploration, prototype scaffolding, UX copy drafting, and design-system documentation — while critically reviewing and refining all AI output to meet quality and brand standards.
- Use AI to generate and iterate on prototypes (including AI-driven UI/prototype generation such as Claude / Claude-based design and prototyping workflows) to validate concepts quickly with stakeholders.
- Partner with Business Analysts and Product to translate BRDs, Epics, and Features into clear, usable designs; participate in refinement and design-review cycles.
- Collaborate with engineering to ensure faithful implementation via design-system components (not bespoke restyling); provide specs, redlines, and design QA.
- Maintain and extend the design system (component states, patterns, tokens, accessibility guidance) and help limit design drift across designers — including exploring AI to keep documentation and patterns in sync.
- Help define and improve AI-in-the-design-process practices — prompt patterns, tool selection, and guardrails for using AI responsibly in a regulated, high-compliance environment.
- Ensure designs meet accessibility, responsiveness, and usability standards, including varied device/terminal form factors and light/dark modes.
- Document design decisions, rationale, and interaction patterns so work is maintainable and hand-off-ready.
Required Experience & Qualifications:
- 5+ years of professional UX/UI design experience delivering complex, data-dense enterprise or operational software (SaaS, workflow, or transactional systems).
- Strong portfolio demonstrating end-to-end design: research/flows → wireframes → high-fidelity UI and shipped products.
- Demonstrated, hands-on experience using AI tools in the design process — e.g., AI-assisted prototyping and UI generation (such as Claude / Claude-based design workflows), image/asset generation, and AI for UX writing, research synthesis, or design documentation.
- Ability to write effective prompts and critically evaluate, edit, and integrate AI-generated output rather than accepting it at face value.
- Hands-on expertise with modern design tooling (e.g., Figma), including component libraries, variants, auto-layout, and design tokens.
- Experience designing with and contributing to a design system/component library; understanding of how designs map to front-end component implementation (e.g., React/MUI-based systems).
- Solid grasp of interaction design, information architecture, and usability principles for high-throughput operational workflows.
- Working knowledge of accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and responsive/multi-device design.
- Ability to collaborate with product, business analysts, and engineering in an agile environment, including regular refinement and design reviews.
- Strong communication skills; able to present and justify design decisions and work within brand/design governance.
- Self-directed and able to deliver independently as a contractor with minimal ramp-up.
Nice to Have:
- Experience integrating AI tools into a team design system or standardizing AI-assisted workflows across designers.
- Experience in gaming, casino operations, financial, or other regulated/high-compliance domains.
- Familiarity with multi-tenant product design and localization/internationalization.
- Experience with design-token pipelines and cross-product brand kits.
AI Tools & Exposure (expected):
- AI design/prototyping: Claude (incl. Claude-based design/prototyping workflows), and comparable AI UI-generation tools.
- General: comfort adopting new AI capabilities quickly and applying them responsibly within compliance constraints.

UX Research Intern Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a ux research intern in Texas?
UX research intern roles in Texas require enrollment in or recent completion of a bachelor's or master's program in human-computer interaction, cognitive psychology, information science, or a related field, as no state-issued license applies to this role. Texas universities including UT Austin, Texas A&M, and Rice University offer relevant programs that recruiters in the state recognize. A portfolio with at least one documented research project, even from coursework, is the most consistent hiring requirement across Texas employers.
Which companies hire ux research interns in Texas?
Texas ux research intern roles are posted by JPMorganChase, JND, and Alcon and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Texas's concentration of Fortune 500 headquarters in Dallas and major tech campuses in Austin means large-scale intern programs are more common here than in most other states.
Which Texas cities have the most ux research intern jobs?
Plano, Austin, and Spring account for the largest share of ux research intern openings in Texas. Austin's dense technology sector drives the bulk of postings, while Dallas draws demand from financial services and telecom headquarters, and Houston's energy and healthcare industries round out the distribution with a smaller but steady set of research intern opportunities.
Are there remote ux research intern jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most intern fields, since ux research work centers on digital tools, remote interview platforms, and synthesized deliverables that transfer well online. About 14% of ux research intern openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting how well the role adapts to distributed teams. Moderated usability sessions and stakeholder presentations are the parts of the role most commonly conducted remotely.
How can I get hired as a ux research intern in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying to structured intern programs at large Texas employers before you have professional research experience. Dell Technologies, American Airlines, and H-E-B run recurring intern cohorts that are explicitly designed for students with coursework but no job history. Transitioning from adjacent roles like customer service analyst, data analyst intern, or UI design intern is a common lateral move. A documented portfolio project, even a class-based usability study with a written findings report, consistently gives candidates an edge over applicants without one.
Where can I find and apply to ux research intern jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to ux research intern jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings updated regularly. Search for roles that match your skills and background, then apply directly to the ones that fit. No account or profile is needed to see the listings.
