User Experience Designer Jobs in Texas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a user experience designer in Texas?
User experience design has no state-issued license in Texas, so the path runs through education and portfolio work. Most Texas employers expect a bachelor's degree in design, human-computer interaction, or a related field, or a recognized bootcamp certificate backed by a strong portfolio. Building projects that show the full UX process, from research through final prototype, is what moves candidates past the resume screen at Texas technology companies, financial firms, and healthcare organizations.
How much do user experience designers make in Texas?
User experience designers in Texas earn a median of about $88,270 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $55,730 for the lowest 10% to over $172,130 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire user experience designers in Texas?
Employers hiring user experience designers in Texas right now include Photon, BetterUp, and Affirm, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Texas's concentration of technology headquarters, major financial institutions, and large retail and healthcare organizations means demand for UX talent is distributed across a wide range of industries rather than just one sector.
Which Texas cities have the most user experience designer jobs?
Austin, Dallas, and Irving have the most user experience designer openings in Texas. Austin's dense technology and software sector drives the highest volume, while Dallas draws demand from financial services, telecom, and corporate headquarters, and Houston's energy, healthcare, and retail industries round out the distribution.
Are there remote user experience designer jobs in Texas?
Yes, and more than most fields. About 24% of user experience designer openings tied to Texas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting how naturally the work translates to distributed teams. Purely digital product design and UX research roles tend to be the most remote-friendly, while positions that involve frequent in-person stakeholder workshops or embedded team collaboration are more likely to require on-site presence.
How can I get hired as a user experience designer in Texas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an associate or junior UX role, often titled UX designer I or product designer associate, which large Texas technology and retail employers post specifically for candidates building their first professional portfolio. Dell Technologies, H-E-B, and major Dallas-based financial firms run rotational product and design programs that accept recent graduates. Candidates from adjacent roles such as graphic designer, front-end developer, or business analyst gain an edge by reframing existing project work as UX case studies and earning a recognized UX certificate.
Where can I find and apply to user experience designer jobs in Texas?
You can find and apply to user experience designer jobs in Texas on Migrate Mate, which lists current Texas openings across the state's major hiring markets. Search the listings, find roles that fit your background and target city, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
