DESCRIPTION
Are you an innovative engineer that wants to design the next generation of world-class fulfillment centers and logistics systems across the globe? Do you want a high level of ownership in solving complex problems? Does the challenge of designing systems that leverage ground breaking automated material handling equipment, packaging technologies and robotics appeal to you? If so, we have the job for you!
Key job responsibilities
We’re looking to add a handful of high-impact engineers to our team. In this role, you will collaborate with internal and external teams to design high quality, cost effective solutions for our fulfillment and distribution systems.

Then, once the design is completed and approved, you will hand-off the project to our Ops Engineering team who will oversee the installation and commissioning of the project. You’ll support that team to ensure that the system you’ve designed is successfully installed, commissioned and launched. Your projects may include green-fields, brown-fields, and retrofits, including highly automated fulfillment centers, cross-dock facilities, reverse logistics, transportation centers, and specialty buildings.
Your projects will be a variety of template-based and designed-from-scratch. You will work with a team of highly skilled and highly engaged engineers in a fast-paced and often ambiguous environment. Our team works on hundreds of projects each year. You will be challenged; you will learn; you will work on high impact, high visibility projects; you will grow.

Senior Physical Design Engineer Jobs in Arlington: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a senior physical design engineer job in Arlington?
Arlington's senior physical design engineer market is driven by defense contractors and aerospace electronics firms concentrated in the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor and around Pentagon City. Candidates with experience in low-power or radiation-hardened designs, familiarity with ITAR-regulated environments, and an active security clearance stand out most. Targeting mid-size defense IP shops and prime contractors with local design centers gives you the strongest foothold in this market.
Which companies hire senior physical design engineers in Arlington?
Companies currently hiring senior physical design engineers in Arlington include Amazon, Logic, and AECOM, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Arlington's hiring base skews toward defense primes, government-adjacent semiconductor firms, and specialized IC design houses serving federal and intelligence community programs.
Are there remote senior physical design engineer jobs in Arlington?
Yes, though options are limited since physical design work often requires access to licensed EDA tools, secure lab environments, and on-site tape-out reviews. About 60% of senior physical design engineer openings tied to Arlington are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with most flexibility concentrated in the pre-layout and signoff analysis phases rather than hands-on implementation work.
How can I get a senior physical design engineer job in Arlington with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Arlington is through a junior or associate physical design role at a defense contractor or IC design consultancy in the Rosslyn-Ballston corridor. Many Arlington firms hire recent engineering graduates who can demonstrate hands-on EDA tool proficiency and coursework in VLSI or digital design. Pursuing an entry-level position on a cleared program also opens doors, since Arlington employers frequently promote from within once clearance eligibility is established.
Which industries hire the most senior physical design engineers in Arlington?
Arlington senior physical design engineer roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Retail, and E-Commerce & Online Marketplaces, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Arlington's proximity to the Pentagon and major federal agencies makes it a hub for defense electronics and government-contracted semiconductor work, which sustains consistent demand for experienced physical design talent.
