Corporate Development Manager Jobs in Virginia: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a corporate development manager in Virginia?
Most corporate development managers in Virginia enter the role with a bachelor's degree in finance, business, or economics, followed by several years in investment banking, management consulting, or corporate finance. Virginia employers, particularly the large defense primes and financial institutions in Northern Virginia and Richmond, typically promote from internal strategy or FP&A teams or recruit candidates with M&A advisory backgrounds. An MBA from a program with strong mid-Atlantic recruiting ties adds a competitive edge at the manager level.
Which companies hire corporate development managers in Virginia?
Companies currently hiring corporate development managers in Virginia include Cvent, Amazon, and Capital One, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of August 2026. Virginia's concentration of defense technology firms, government contractors, and regional financial institutions makes it one of the more active markets on the East Coast for this role.
Which Virginia cities have the most corporate development manager jobs?
McLean, Reston, and Arlington account for the largest share of corporate development manager openings in Virginia. Northern Virginia drives the bulk of demand through its dense cluster of defense contractors, technology companies, and federal consulting firms, while Richmond's corporate headquarters for financial services and consumer brands sustain a steady pipeline of strategic development roles.
Are there remote corporate development manager jobs in Virginia?
Yes, and more than many finance roles, since much of the analytical and deal-structuring work can be done off-site. About 75% of corporate development manager openings tied to Virginia are remote or hybrid as of August 2026, reflecting the desk-based nature of most pipeline management and modeling tasks. Deal execution phases, board presentations, and integration planning typically require in-person presence, so fully remote arrangements are more common for senior individual contributors than for managers with direct reports.
How can I get hired as a corporate development manager in Virginia with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving laterally from a related role such as financial analyst, FP&A manager, or strategy consultant into a junior corporate development or business development associate position. Large Virginia employers including Capital One, Leidos, and SAIC hire from internal strategy and finance rotational programs that develop candidates for M&A-adjacent work. Building a portfolio of financial models, sector research, or a completed case study on a real Virginia company transaction demonstrates readiness when direct deal experience is limited.
Where can I find and apply to corporate development manager jobs in Virginia?
You can find and apply to corporate development manager jobs in Virginia on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings tied to the state. Search the roles that match your background, review the requirements, and apply directly to the ones that fit your experience and target location within Virginia.
