Corporate Development Manager Jobs in California: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a corporate development manager in California?
The most direct path is a bachelor's degree in finance, economics, or business, followed by several years in investment banking, private equity, or strategy consulting before moving into a corporate development role. California employers, particularly in technology and life sciences, strongly favor candidates with an MBA from a recognized program. No state-issued license is required to work as a corporate development manager in California, but CFA designation can strengthen a candidacy.
Which companies hire corporate development managers in California?
Employers hiring corporate development managers in California right now include Apple, Adobe, and Google, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. California's deep concentration of technology headquarters, entertainment studios, and biotech companies means corporate development teams here tend to focus on high-velocity M&A and strategic partnership activity year-round.
Which California cities have the most corporate development manager jobs?
San Francisco, San Jose, and Los Angeles have the most corporate development manager openings in California. The Bay Area's concentration of major technology and venture-backed companies drives the bulk of demand, while Los Angeles draws heavily from entertainment, media, and consumer brands, and San Diego's robust biotech and defense sectors generate steady corporate development hiring of their own.
Are there remote corporate development manager jobs in California?
Yes, and more than many finance roles, since much of the work involves analysis, modeling, and stakeholder communication that translates well to remote settings. About 26% of corporate development manager openings tied to California are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, reflecting the broader flexibility technology and financial services employers in the state have extended to senior analytical roles. Deal execution and integration phases, however, still tend to require in-person presence.
How can I get hired as a corporate development manager in California with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry point is a rotational finance or strategy analyst program at a large California technology or healthcare company, where participants gain exposure to M&A and partnerships before moving into a dedicated corporate development role. Companies like Salesforce, Kaiser Permanente, and major Bay Area technology firms run structured associate and rotational programs that regularly feed into corporate development teams. A strong financial modeling portfolio, progress toward a CFA, or an MBA from a California program significantly improves competitiveness for these openings.
Where can I find and apply to corporate development manager jobs in California?
You can find and apply to corporate development manager jobs in California on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the available roles, find the ones that fit your background and target location, and apply directly to the employers posting them.
