Entry Level Senior Power Systems Engineer Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level senior power systems engineer job?
Employers hiring at the entry level typically look for foundational knowledge in power systems analysis, grid operations, or electrical engineering principles, often gained through coursework or internships. Hands-on experience with simulation tools like ETAP, PSS/E, or PowerWorld gives candidates a real edge. Highlighting a relevant capstone project, co-op, or lab work on your resume shows employers you can apply theory to real systems from day one.
Which companies hire entry level senior power systems engineers?
Companies hiring entry level senior power systems engineers right now include Caterpillar, Electric Power Engineers, and Redwood Materials, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Utilities, engineering consultancies, defense contractors, and renewable energy developers tend to hire most actively at this level, often recruiting directly from engineering programs.
Are there remote entry level senior power systems engineer jobs?
Yes, though on-site roles still dominate in this field given the hands-on nature of power systems work. About 18% of entry level senior power systems engineer openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, concentrated mainly in roles focused on modeling, simulation, or data analysis rather than fieldwork or substation operations.
Are these new grad senior power systems engineer jobs?
Yes, this page includes new grad, recent graduate, and junior roles alongside other entry level openings. A posting is typically new-grad friendly when it welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships or co-ops toward the requirement, or accepts a strong academic portfolio in place of full-time work history. Look for language like "new graduates encouraged to apply" or "entry level considered" in the listing.
Which industries hire the most entry level senior power systems engineers?
Entry Level senior power systems engineer roles concentrate in Consulting & Professional Services, Manufacturing, and Energy, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Those sectors drive hiring at this level because of ongoing grid modernization, renewable energy buildout, and infrastructure investment that require fresh engineering talent to support growing project pipelines.
