YOUR MISSION (The Job Description)
The Food Server will play an important role in delivering outstanding guest service to the guests and the team by offering timely, efficient, knowledgeable, warm, and truly remarkable service. Listen, record, communicate and deliver food & beverage items based on requests, guest history, and preferences. Be enthusiastic and use your talents to sell our experience to our guests.
THE NITTY-GRITTY (The Essential Job Duties)
- Greet and guide guests throughout their dining experience, making insightful and timely suggestions on ordering
- Place all orders into the POS accurately
- Create memorable experiences for guests and create repeat guests
- Ensure guest satisfaction through food quality checks and responsiveness to guest complaints
- Maintain a well-groomed, neat and clean appearance while carrying out duties with attention to sanitation safety
- Anticipate, identify, and provide for guest needs
- Perform side work duties on daily basis
WHAT IT TAKES (The Qualities We Look For)
- Review and comprehend necessary documentation
- Effectively and efficiently move throughout work area
- Communicate effectively with guests and co-workers alike
- Familiarity with food, beverage, and wine service
- Knowledge of table service, ability to carry a tray and multiple plates in hand
- Knowledge of table etiquette - open handed service
- Knowledge of proper table set up
MUST HAVE'S
- Current, legal, and unrestricted ability to work in the United States
- High school or equivalent education required
- Food Service Handler Card and TABC certification that is currently valid for a minimum of 6 months
- Preferred: 1-2 years' experience in a full-service restaurant or lounge
- Familiarity with superior guest service skills required
- Must have the ability to lead and supervise
- The skills and abilities necessary for effective performance within this position are typically acquired through five (5) years serving or similar experience or through progressive promotion and training within the foodservice department
WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE'S
- Learn and sell extensive food menu and beverage list
- Must enjoy being around and working with people
- Comply with all safety and health department procedures as well as all state and federal laws
- Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance
- Adhere to hotel policies including but not limited to attendance, safety, and behavior
THE WORKING CONDITIONS
- Lift and carry 50 lbs., carry and balance plates, carry kegs, wine and beer cases as necessary
- Stand for periods of 8-10 hours. Proper footwear is required
- Communicate clearly in verbal and written English
- Bend, squat and stretch in areas of limited space to perform cleaning, organization, and other duties
- Work in an environment that is subject to varying levels of cold, heat, smoke, light (including flashing lights), and sound
- Incumbents are at times subject to hazards such as chemicals; proper safety precautions will be taken. This position occasionally works outside and is subject to all weather. Proper clothing is provided
