Overall Function
The Reporter/Editor will report to EDF’s Editorial Director and will be responsible for surfacing, researching, writing and editing stories for Solutions and Vital Signs. We produce high-quality journalistic content, including deeply reported, human-centered features, news stories, service pieces and analyses that meet key audiences where they are. We highlight the human impact of environmental decisions, EDF wins and expertise, raise brand awareness and build trust in EDF as a credible source of information to help drive engagement.
We are looking for an experienced print and digital reporter and editor adept at covering nuanced, complex topics and transforming technical information into lively, compelling content for lay audiences. The Reporter/Editor will be both a self-starter — taking the initiative to surface new ideas and approaches — and an enthusiastic collaborator who is keen to work with editors and subject matter experts to hone and elevate their final product.

- Report, write and edit engaging, human-centered stories that are on brand and effective across print and digital platforms.

- Work with designers, videographers and a photo coordinator to develop accompanying visuals (graphics, photos, videos and other interactive formats).
- Collaborate with Marketing team colleagues on promotional campaigns
- Travel approximately twice each year, and on rare occasions work outside of standard office hours when deadlines and breaking news dictate.
- Participates in advancing EDF’s organizational effectiveness and culture goals, so people from all backgrounds and experiences feel connected, included, and empowered to address the environmental and organizational challenges in ways that align with EDF values.

- At least 6 years' related work experience, preferably including journalism. Must be comfortable in both print and digital writing and editing. Experience in marketing and/or nonprofits a plus.
- Excellent research reporting and interviewing skills. Editing experience preferred.
- A writing style that is crystal clear, jargon-free, concise and engaging, no matter what the topic or audience.
- Ability to generate creative ideas and operate independently to meet deadlines yet also thrive on collaboration and feedback.
- Top-notch people skills — proven ability to navigate relationships across a large organization with positivity, humor and grace
- Excellent organizational and time management skills; able to juggle multiple deadlines, shifting priorities and complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
- Experience implementing SEO and other digital media strategies; familiarity with web analytics, AEO/GEO and audience engagement a plus.
- Experience selecting imagery and helping to develop editorial graphics and infographics.
- Comfortable using Drupal or a similar content management system.
- Working knowledge of environmental issues preferred. Particular interest/expertise in subjects related to EDF's core areas of work, a plus.
- Demonstrates self-awareness, cultural competency and inclusivity, and ability to work with colleagues and stakeholders across diverse cultures and backgrounds.

Service Team Lead Jobs in Boulder: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a service team lead job in Boulder?
Focus your search on Boulder's strongest hiring sectors: outdoor and specialty retail along Pearl Street, software and SaaS companies in the East Boulder tech corridor, and food and beverage operations near University Hill. Employers here consistently favor candidates who have supervised shift operations, owned customer resolution processes, and demonstrated team coaching in a fast-paced environment. Familiarity with Boulder's service culture, where staff retention and community experience matter, gives local candidates a clear edge.
Which companies hire service team leads in Boulder?
Companies currently hiring service team leads in Boulder include State Farm, Whole Foods Market, and Target, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Boulder's employer mix skews toward specialty retail brands, consumer tech firms, and independent hospitality groups, all of which regularly promote from within and maintain dedicated service teams.
Are there remote service team lead jobs in Boulder?
Remote availability is limited for most service team lead roles because the position typically requires on-site team supervision and real-time customer interaction. About 50% of service team lead openings tied to Boulder are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, and those tend to be at Boulder's software and SaaS companies where service means technical support or account management rather than floor operations.
How can I get a service team lead job in Boulder with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Boulder is starting as a front-line service representative or shift supervisor at one of the city's outdoor retail or hospitality employers, where internal promotion to team lead is common. Boulder's specialty retail corridor and its independent restaurant and brewery scene regularly bring on entry-level candidates and develop them into leads within a year or two. Showing initiative on scheduling, training a new hire, or owning a customer escalation without being asked signals readiness for a lead role to local managers.
Which industries hire the most service team leads in Boulder?
Most service team lead openings in Boulder sit in Insurance, Retail, and Non-Profit & Social Services, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Boulder's identity as a hub for outdoor brands, university-adjacent hospitality, and high-growth tech firms creates consistent demand for leads who can manage service-oriented teams across both consumer-facing and B2B environments.
