Service Technician Jobs in Salt Lake City: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a service technician job in Salt Lake City?
The strongest hiring activity in Salt Lake City is in HVAC, elevator systems, medical device servicing, and commercial equipment maintenance, with employers concentrated Downtown, in the Sugar House corridor, and in the industrial zones near Midvale and Murray. Candidates with hands-on diagnostic experience and EPA or manufacturer certifications relevant to their specialty stand out. Targeting companies tied to the medical corridor along Foothill Drive or the commercial real estate build-out Downtown gives you the best shot at landing interviews quickly.
Which companies hire service technicians in Salt Lake City?
Companies currently hiring service technicians in Salt Lake City include Clean Harbors, RK, and EPIROC, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. The local market includes a mix of national equipment manufacturers with regional service centers, healthcare systems requiring biomedical technicians, and commercial facility management firms supporting Salt Lake City's growing office and mixed-use development.
Are there remote service technician jobs in Salt Lake City?
Yes, though remote work is uncommon for service technician roles since most require on-site equipment access, diagnostics, or repair. About 100% of service technician openings tied to Salt Lake City are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, and those tend to be in technical support coordination or software-assisted monitoring roles rather than hands-on field positions.
How can I get a service technician job in Salt Lake City with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Salt Lake City is through facilities maintenance helper or junior field technician roles with commercial property management firms and healthcare systems Downtown and in the Research Park area near the University of Utah. These employers regularly hire entry-level candidates and provide on-the-job training. Completing a trades certificate at Salt Lake Community College and applying for apprenticeship programs run by local HVAC or elevator companies also opens the door quickly without prior work experience.
Which industries hire the most service technicians in Salt Lake City?
Most service technician openings in Salt Lake City sit in Manufacturing, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Salt Lake City's concentration of healthcare systems, an expanding commercial real estate sector, and a manufacturing base in the southern valley suburbs drive consistent demand for equipment and facilities service technicians across the metro area.
