Solutions Architect Jobs in Houston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a solutions architect job in Houston?
The strongest path into solutions architect roles in Houston runs through the city's dominant sectors: energy technology, healthcare systems, and financial services. Large oil and gas operators, hospital networks like Memorial Hermann and HCA Houston Healthcare, and regional banks all hire solutions architects to manage complex integrations and cloud infrastructure. Candidates with AWS, Azure, or GCP certifications and hands-on experience in enterprise architecture stand out. Networking through local tech communities in Midtown and the Galleria area also opens doors.
Which companies hire solutions architects in Houston?
Companies currently hiring solutions architects in Houston include Deloitte, Bain & Company, and Chevron, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's hiring base is unusually broad, pulling from energy giants, health systems, aerospace contractors near the Johnson Space Center, and mid-market technology consultancies anchored downtown.
Are there remote solutions architect jobs in Houston?
Yes, though availability depends on the role. Solutions architect work that involves cloud architecture, pre-sales design, or vendor management is often remote-compatible, while positions tied to on-premise infrastructure or energy operations typically require on-site presence. About 31% of solutions architect openings tied to Houston are remote or hybrid as of June 2026. Hybrid arrangements are most common among technology consultancies and SaaS vendors operating out of Greenway Plaza and the Galleria corridor.
How can I get a solutions architect job in Houston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Houston is moving laterally from a systems administrator, cloud engineer, or pre-sales technical role at one of the city's many IT managed service providers or mid-size technology consultancies. Energy sector IT departments and hospital network infrastructure teams frequently post associate-level technical roles that feed into solutions architecture. Earning a cloud certification such as AWS Solutions Architect Associate and building a portfolio of architecture diagrams from personal or open-source projects gives Houston hiring managers something concrete to evaluate.
Which industries hire the most solutions architects in Houston?
Most solutions architect openings in Houston sit in Technology & Software, Consulting & Professional Services, and Accounting & Auditing, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Houston's economy is anchored by energy, the Texas Medical Center, and a growing financial technology corridor, each of which runs large-scale enterprise systems that require dedicated solutions architects to design, integrate, and maintain.
