Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding STEM OPT Authorization as an Integration Engineer
Verify your CIP code before applying
Check your degree's Classification of Instructional Programs code against the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List. Degrees in computer engineering, systems engineering, and electrical engineering typically qualify, but your DSO confirms the exact match before you file.
Filter job postings by E-Verify status
Ask recruiters directly whether their company is enrolled in E-Verify before your first interview. STEM OPT requires E-Verify enrollment as a condition of the extension, and discovering a gap at the offer stage wastes both parties' time.
Build your I-983 training plan around integration-specific deliverables
Your I-983 must tie learning objectives to concrete engineering tasks: system interface design, API integration cycles, middleware configuration. Vague goals get flagged by your DSO. Draft the plan with your hiring manager before your extension start date.
Research prevailing wages before negotiating your offer
Integration Engineer wages vary by metro area and experience tier. Run your job title and location through the OFLC Wage Search to see DOL wage levels before you counter. This also signals to employers you understand the compliance context of sponsored roles.
Target employers with existing H-1B filing history
Employers who have filed H-1B petitions for engineering roles are already familiar with federal immigration compliance. Use Migrate Mate to find Integration Engineer roles at companies with verified sponsorship histories, so your STEM OPT job search starts with the highest-probability matches.
Understand cap-gap protection if your H-1B is selected
If your employer files an H-1B petition before your OPT expires and you're selected in the lottery, cap-gap rules extend your STEM OPT work authorization through September 30 of the fiscal year. File your I-765 renewal through USCIS well before your EAD expires to avoid a gap.

Find Integration Engineer JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does my degree qualify me for the STEM OPT extension as an Integration Engineer?
Your degree qualifies if it appears on the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List. Degrees in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science, and systems engineering commonly support Integration Engineer roles. Your DSO verifies the CIP code match and approves the I-20 extension. If your degree is in a borderline field, your DSO can review the official DHS list to confirm eligibility before you accept an offer.
What E-Verify requirement applies to my STEM OPT employer?
Every employer who hires you on a STEM OPT extension must be enrolled in E-Verify for the specific site where you work. Enrollment at the company level isn't enough if your worksite is a subsidiary or separate location. Confirm enrollment status directly with your HR contact or ask them to provide their E-Verify company ID before you sign an offer letter.
What goes into the I-983 training plan for an Integration Engineer role?
Your I-983 must describe how the job provides practical training related to your STEM degree. For Integration Engineers, that means listing specific learning goals tied to your work: designing system interfaces, managing API pipelines, configuring middleware, or building CI/CD workflows. Goals must connect directly to your degree field. Your hiring manager co-signs the form, and your DSO must approve it before USCIS processes your extension.
How does cap-gap protection work if I'm on STEM OPT and get selected in the H-1B lottery?
Cap-gap automatically extends your STEM OPT work authorization if your employer files an H-1B petition by April 1 and you're selected in the lottery. Your authorization continues through September 30, even if your current EAD would expire earlier. You don't need a new EAD for this period, but you do need your employer to file on time. USCIS issues a cap-gap extension notice you can use as proof of continued authorization.
Where can I find Integration Engineer jobs at employers who support STEM OPT?
Migrate Mate lists Integration Engineer roles at employers with verified E-Verify enrollment and H-1B filing history, so you're not sorting through postings blind. You can also cross-reference the O*NET occupation profile for Integration Engineer to understand which related job titles fall under the same SOC code, which broadens your search without changing your eligibility.
