Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding STEM OPT Authorization in IT Service Delivery
Verify your CIP code before applying
Check that your degree's CIP code appears on the STEM OPT designated degree program list. Computer Science, Information Systems, and Systems Engineering codes cover most IT Service Delivery roles, but Management Information Systems grads sometimes need to confirm their specific code with their DSO.
Filter employers by E-Verify status first
Before applying, confirm the employer is enrolled in E-Verify through the E-Verify employer search tool. IT Service Delivery hiring often spans consulting firms and managed service providers, and E-Verify enrollment varies widely across that landscape.
Align your I-983 training plan to ITSM outcomes
Your I-983 must tie training goals to your STEM degree, not just your daily tasks. Frame objectives around systems analysis, incident management metrics, or infrastructure optimization rather than generic helpdesk duties, which strengthens the academic connection USCIS expects to see.
Target employers with active LCA filing history
Employers who have filed Labor Condition Applications for IT operations or service delivery roles signal established sponsorship infrastructure. Use Migrate Mate to filter for companies with verified LCA history in this occupation so you're not discovering their process from scratch during your offer stage.
Benchmark your offer against prevailing wage before negotiating
Run the specific job title and work location through the OFLC Wage Search before your offer call. IT Service Delivery wages vary sharply by metro area, and knowing the Level I through Level IV wage bands lets you negotiate from the same data your employer's LCA must certify.
Start cap-gap planning before your OPT end date
If your OPT ends before October 1 and your employer files an H-1B petition on your behalf before your EAD expires, cap-gap protection automatically extends your work authorization. Confirm your employer understands this timeline at least 90 days before your OPT expiration.

Find IT Service Delivery JobsFrequently Asked Questions
Does an IT Service Delivery role qualify for STEM OPT?
It depends on how the role is classified and whether your degree maps to an eligible CIP code. IT Service Delivery positions involving systems administration, infrastructure management, or ITSM platform ownership typically qualify when the employer documents the technical connection in the I-983 training plan. Roles limited to non-technical coordination or client-facing support without a systems component can be harder to justify. Your DSO reviews the I-983 and makes the final determination before endorsing your extension.
What degrees make you eligible for STEM OPT in IT Service Delivery?
Degrees in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Engineering, and Systems Engineering cover the most common pathways. Management Information Systems and Computer and Information Sciences degrees also qualify under most CIP codes. The key is that your specific degree program must appear on the DHS STEM Designated Degree Program List, which your DSO can verify using your transcript and program CIP code before you apply for the extension through USCIS.
Does my IT Service Delivery employer need to be enrolled in E-Verify?
Yes. E-Verify enrollment is a hard requirement for any employer hiring a STEM OPT student. The employer must also sign the I-983 training plan, committing to provide a structured training experience tied to your degree. Before accepting an offer, confirm E-Verify enrollment directly with HR or through the E-Verify employer search tool. If the employer isn't enrolled, they cannot legally employ you on a STEM OPT extension, regardless of how the role is structured.
How do I find IT Service Delivery employers who sponsor STEM OPT students?
Migrate Mate lets you filter IT Service Delivery jobs by employers with verified E-Verify enrollment and LCA filing history, which cuts out the guesswork of researching each company individually. Look for consulting firms, managed service providers, and enterprise technology teams that have filed Labor Condition Applications for operations or infrastructure roles, as these employers already understand the compliance obligations that come with hiring on STEM OPT.
What goes into the I-983 training plan for an IT Service Delivery role?
The I-983 requires you and your employer to document specific training goals, the practical skills you'll develop, and how those skills connect to your STEM degree. For IT Service Delivery, that means framing objectives around measurable outcomes: incident response metrics, platform reliability improvements, or infrastructure project deliverables. Generic job descriptions don't satisfy the training plan requirement. Both you and a company supervisor must sign the plan, and your DSO must endorse it before your extension is approved by USCIS.
