Overview
We are seeking a candidate with in-depth experience supporting Patient Access workflows across both inpatient and outpatient settings, with strong knowledge of Financial Clearance processes. The ideal candidate will have hands-on exposure to real-time eligibility verification, bed management, and service level authorizations, including knowledge of insurance workflows and systems to support prior authorization requirements. Epic Prelude and/or Grand Central certification strongly preferred.
In this role, you will provide day-to-day support for Patient Access business operations while continuously optimizing Epic to maximize workflow efficiency and improve both the end-user and patient experience, recognizing a highly matrixed environment. You will serve as a liaison between end users, operational leaders, IT support teams, and vendors to design, build, support, and enhance Epic solutions in a timely, high-quality manner—triaging and resolving incidents and service requests, troubleshooting workflow and build issues, and identifying root causes and process improvements to prevent recurring problems. The ideal candidate stays current on industry trends, regulatory and payer requirements, and emerging Epic functionality and third-party solutions, bringing forward recommendations that strengthen compliance, efficiency, and patient access continuity; familiarity with adjacent Epic applications such as Willow, Beacon, Cadence, and/or Ambulatory is strongly valued. Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding STEM OPT Authorization as a Senior Application Analyst
Verify your CIP code before applying
Check that your degree's Classification of Instructional Programs code maps to a STEM-designated field recognized by ICE. Application analysis roles typically require computer science, information systems, or engineering degrees, so a mismatched CIP code can disqualify your extension before it starts.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment before accepting offers
Ask your recruiter for the company's E-Verify employer ID during the offer stage, not after signing. Employers must be actively enrolled in E-Verify to sponsor STEM OPT, and enrollment status can lapse, so verify it directly with the hiring team.
Build your I-983 training plan around systems deliverables
Frame your I-983 learning objectives around specific application analyst outputs: requirements documentation, system integration testing, and escalation workflows. Generic training plans draw DSO scrutiny, so tie each objective to a measurable project milestone your employer can supervise and sign off on.
Target employers with active LCA filings for analyst roles
Search Migrate Mate to find employers whose DOL Labor Condition Application history shows active filings for application analyst and systems analyst positions. This tells you which companies already understand technical visa sponsorship workflows, not just which ones claim to sponsor.
Use OFLC Wage Search to benchmark before negotiating
Look up the prevailing wage for Senior Application Analyst under SOC code 15-1211 in your metro area using OFLC Wage Search. Your offer must meet or exceed the applicable wage level, so knowing the floor before negotiations prevents compliance problems that could delay your I-983 approval.
Time your extension request to your OPT end date
File your STEM OPT extension with USCIS at least 90 days before your initial OPT expires. Late filings create an authorization gap that stops you from working, and Senior Application Analyst roles in enterprise environments often require continuous employment to maintain project access and security clearances.
Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Senior Application Analyst role qualify for STEM OPT?
Yes, if your degree is in a STEM-designated field such as computer science, information systems, or software engineering and the role's core duties involve technical systems work. The position typically falls under SOC code 15-1211, which USCIS and ICE recognize for STEM OPT eligibility. Confirm your specific degree's CIP code with your DSO before filing the extension.
What E-Verify requirement applies to my STEM OPT employer?
Your employer must be enrolled in E-Verify before you begin working under the STEM OPT extension. Enrollment at the time of hiring is not enough if it has since lapsed. Ask your HR contact to confirm the company's active E-Verify employer ID and verify it directly with E-Verify if needed. A lapsed enrollment invalidates your extension authorization.
What goes into the I-983 training plan for this role?
Your I-983 must describe the practical training you'll receive as a Senior Application Analyst, including specific learning objectives tied to systems analysis tasks, the supervision structure, and how the work relates to your STEM degree. Vague descriptions citing only job titles get flagged by DSOs. Include concrete deliverables such as requirements documentation, integration testing cycles, or platform migration projects.
How does cap-gap protection apply if I'm waiting on H-1B selection?
If your employer files an H-1B visa petition on your behalf before your OPT or STEM OPT expires, cap-gap automatically extends your work authorization through September 30 of that fiscal year. You can continue working as a Senior Application Analyst during this period without interruption. USCIS issues updated I-20 documentation reflecting the cap-gap extension, which your employer uses to confirm your continued authorization.
Where can I find Senior Application Analyst jobs that sponsor STEM OPT?
Use Migrate Mate to search for Senior Application Analyst positions at employers with verified E-Verify enrollment and active DOL Labor Condition Application filing history. Filtering by employers who already file LCAs for analyst roles significantly narrows your list to companies that understand and actively manage technical visa sponsorship, saving time during your OPT authorization window.
