Structural Engineer Jobs in Dallas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a structural engineer job in Dallas?
Focus your search on Dallas's commercial construction and civil infrastructure sectors, which drive the bulk of local openings. Firms working on high-rise mixed-use developments in Uptown, highway and transit projects across North Texas, and the wave of corporate campus builds in Frisco and Plano hire the most consistently. Candidates with experience in ETABS, RISA, or Revit Structure, and any project exposure to Texas's expansive soil conditions, stand out in this market.
Which companies hire structural engineers in Dallas?
Companies currently hiring structural engineers in Dallas include Garver, Burns & McDonnell, and Digital Building Components, per current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. The local market is a mix of large national engineering and construction firms with regional offices in Dallas and mid-size consultancies that specialize in commercial, industrial, and municipal projects across the Metroplex.
Are there remote structural engineer jobs in Dallas?
Yes, though remote work is limited for structural engineers since the role is heavily tied to site visits, inspections, and coordination with local contractors. About 16% of structural engineer openings tied to Dallas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with most flexibility found in analysis, design review, and report-writing phases of longer commercial or infrastructure projects.
How can I get a structural engineer job in Dallas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Dallas is targeting EIT roles at mid-size civil and structural consulting firms, which regularly hire recent graduates for design support and drafting work. Firms supporting Dallas's ongoing commercial development pipeline, highway expansion under TxDOT contracts, and school district construction programs tend to hire entry-level talent. A professional engineering internship or co-op with a North Texas firm, combined with ETABS or AutoCAD proficiency, gives candidates a concrete edge over peers with no local exposure.
Which industries hire the most structural engineers in Dallas?
The sectors hiring the most structural engineers in Dallas are Consulting & Professional Services, Construction & Real Estate, and Manufacturing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Dallas's sustained commercial real estate boom, active TxDOT highway program, and expansion of data centers and logistics facilities across the Metroplex keep demand concentrated in those areas.
