Become a SHARE! Exchange Program Coach in College Station, TX!
A desire to learn about what separates us culturally, as well as to celebrate all that we share in common as people, lies at the heart of SHARE!’s mission.
ERDT/SHARE! is engaged in providing quality homestays and enrollments in American high schools for foreign high school students coming to the United States for a full academic year (10 months) or one semester (5 months).
As an Exchange Program Coach (EPC), you will have the important task of locating enthusiastic and nurturing families ready to welcome a visiting student from a foreign country into their home.
As a Department of State designated program, SHARE! takes great pride in achieving a great degree of compatibility between host family and student, and YOUR role in this process is what can make the difference in the experience for both.
You determine the means and methods for fulfilling the duties and responsibilities of facilitating an exchange program in your community. The EPC is primarily responsible for recruiting host families, coordinating quality homestays for the student with their host family, and taking care of their high school enrollment. We count on our EPCs to facilitate the exchange student’s adjustment to life in the United States, and enhance a positive impression of the United States, which is the purpose of all exchange activity.

Student Services Counselor Jobs in New Mexico: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a student services counselor in New Mexico?
Most student services counselor positions in New Mexico require at minimum a bachelor's degree, with a master's degree in counseling, higher education administration, or student affairs preferred for college and university roles. New Mexico does not require a separate state license for non-clinical student services counselors working in academic settings. Public school counselors are an exception and must hold a New Mexico School Counselor License issued through the Public Education Department, which requires a master's degree and a passing score on the relevant licensure exam.
Which companies hire student services counselors in New Mexico?
New Mexico student services counselor roles are posted by University of New Mexico, Los Alamos National Laboratory, and Albertsons and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. New Mexico's large public university systems and community college network consistently generate the most sustained demand for these positions statewide.
Which New Mexico cities have the most student services counselor jobs?
Albuquerque, Los Alamos, and Santa Fe have the most student services counselor openings in New Mexico. Albuquerque leads because of the University of New Mexico, Central New Mexico Community College, and a large consolidated school district, while Las Cruces is driven by New Mexico State University and Santa Fe by both state government offices and Santa Fe Community College.
Are there remote student services counselor jobs in New Mexico?
Yes, but they are limited, since student services counseling is largely relationship-driven and tied to campus or school environments. About 36% of student services counselor openings tied to New Mexico are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting a modest share of the overall market. The roles most likely to carry remote or hybrid flexibility are those focused on online student populations, distance education advising, or administrative coordination rather than direct in-person student support.
How can I get hired as a student services counselor in New Mexico with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is applying for graduate assistantships or entry-level advisor positions at New Mexico's public universities, which regularly onboard candidates with limited direct experience. The University of New Mexico and New Mexico State University both hire advisors-in-training and academic success coaches as steppingstone roles. Coming from adjacent positions such as admissions coordinator, financial aid assistant, or residence life staff builds the student-facing background employers look for. Completing a master's in counseling or higher education at a New Mexico institution also opens doors, since local programs maintain direct relationships with campus hiring teams.
Where can I find and apply to student services counselor jobs in New Mexico?
You can find and apply to student services counselor jobs in New Mexico on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your background and apply directly to the ones that fit your experience and location preferences.
