Concrete Superintendent
Location: Virginia / North Carolina

SW Funk is seeking a reliable and experienced Concrete Superintendent to plan, organise, supervise, and oversee industrial concrete construction projects. The Concrete Superintendent will provide day-to-day leadership for field operations, regularly supervising crews of 5–10 carpenters, finishers, and helpers while ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project plans and schedules.
As the Concrete Superintendent, you will review project blueprints and layouts, coordinate manpower, estimate time and materials, develop work schedules, monitor project progress, and inspect work areas to ensure quality and safety standards are met. You will complete required paperwork including timesheets, accident reports, and work orders, evaluate crew performance, mentor and train team members, maintain operational records, monitor inventory levels, and ensure work areas remain organised and compliant with OSHA standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Interpret and apply information from drawings, specifications, and project documents.
- Coordinate and supervise daily concrete construction activities.
- Ensure crews safely operate hand and power tools.
- Oversee concrete formwork, rebar installation, anchor bolt placement, concrete placement, finishing, and epoxy grouting.
- Monitor workmanship to ensure projects meet quality standards and project specifications.
- Measure, cut, assemble, fasten, mark, and bore materials required for concrete construction.
- Coordinate material, equipment, and labour requirements to maintain project schedules.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices throughout the project.
Required Skills & Requirements
- Minimum 4–5 years' experience as a Journeyman Form Carpenter or in a related concrete construction role.
- Minimum 2 years' experience supervising concrete crews on industrial construction projects.
- Minimum 2 years' experience working in an industrial environment.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations and safe work practices.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Ability to work in all weather conditions and perform physically demanding work.
- Competent in basic mathematics for material take-offs and field calculations.
