INTRODUCTION
District Five is one of six districts of the New Mexico Department of Transportation. The boundaries of District Five include the following counties: Torrance, Santa Fe, Los Alamos, Rio Arriba, Taos, and San Juan. Employees in the District are responsible for providing the Maintenance, Construction, Engineering Support, and Business support measures of the Department to ensure the safety of the public as well as efficient highways.
This position is in located in the District Five Complex/Technical Support-Local Government Section.
As a valued new employee to NMDOT, you may be eligible to receive three (3) days of administrative leave upon your start date. This is applicable to external hires not within the State of New Mexico Government.
INTERVIEWS ARE ANTICIPATED TO BE CONDUCTED WITHIN TWO (2) WEEKS OF CLOSING DATE.
PURPOSE:
This position serves to provide support to the District Five Technical Support Engineer in the oversight of District 5 entities and with administration of State Funded grant process (Local Government projects).
Responsibilities:
Incumbent will generate co-op agreements, review project proposal documents, monitor projects for various grants, perform field inspections, process payments and vouchering, audit project related documents, work closely with the project oversight division and daily contact with District 5 entities.
CUSTOMERS:
District 5 local government entities (County, City, Tribal, Schools, Towns, Villages) Project Oversight Division, and Department of Transportation employees.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or Equivalency and two (2) years of experience in office administration, budgeting, purchasing, finance, accounting, auditing, cash management, contract management, and/or the procedures of business and management principles involved in strategic planning. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling two (2) years may substitute for the required experience.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS:
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver's license. Business reference check verification are also required, and employment is conditional pending results.
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display Terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some sitting, standing, bending and reaching may be required.
