See related jobsWe are seeking a hands-on, forward-thinking IT Systems Architect to lead our transition into a unified, secure, and AI-enhanced digital ecosystem. You will be responsible for migrating our infrastructure to Microsoft 365, standardizing our device management, an, most importantly, re-engineering our business processes. We are moving away from fragmented, legacy workflows toward a streamlined environment leveraging native integrations and agentic AI.
This is not a standard "help desk" role. We need a technical architect who can "dance" between legacy systems (Zapier, third-party apps) and modern, agentic solutions (Copilot Studio, Microsoft Graph).
Responsibilities:
- Infrastructure Management: Lead the full migration to Microsoft 365 Business Premium. Configure and manage Intune, Autopilot, and tenant security policies to ensure a standardized, secure device environment.
- System Migration: Execute domain cutovers and oversee the migration of data from legacy platforms (HostGator, Google Drive, local storage) to SharePoint and OneDrive.
- Automation & Integration: Audit our existing Zapier-heavy automation stack. Troubleshoot current bottlenecks, simplify complex workflows, and replace fragile "spaghetti" automations with robust, native integrations or custom agents.
- Agentic AI Implementation: Build and deploy custom agents using Copilot Studio to automate business processes, pull live data from Monday.com and QuickBooks, and reduce manual administrative overhead.
- Process Simplification: Partner with department heads (Finance, Production, Operations) to audit existing workflows. Identify where we can "hit the reset button" to simplify processes rather than just automating broken ones.
- Training & Support: Act as the internal technical lead. Create documentation and video walkthroughs to train non-technical staff on new systems, security protocols (MFA), and best practices for file management.
- Required Skills & Experience
- Microsoft 365 Expert: Deep experience with M365 Business Premium, specifically Intune, Autopilot, and SharePoint/OneDrive architecture.
- Automation Architect: Proven experience with Zapier (troubleshooting and maintenance) and a strong desire to move toward native integrations and Power Automate.
- Agentic AI Background: Experience building or configuring AI agents (e.g., Copilot Studio, Claude, or similar LLM-based automation tools). You understand how to connect AI to live data sources.
- Troubleshooting Detective: Ability to look at a complex, multi-step automation and understand exactly where it breaks and how to fix it—or how to build it better from scratch.
- Communication: You can explain complex technical concepts to non-technical team members without frustration. You are comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in IT systems administration, systems architecture, automation, or a related technical field preferred.
- Strong experience with Microsoft 365 Business Premium.
- Hands-on experience with Microsoft Intune and Autopilot.
- Strong understanding of SharePoint and OneDrive architecture.
- Experience managing Microsoft 365 security settings, user accounts, permissions, and MFA.
- Experience troubleshooting and maintaining Zapier automations.
- Experience with Power Automate or other workflow automation platforms.
- Experience building or configuring AI agents or LLM-based automations is strongly preferred.
- Experience with Copilot Studio, Microsoft Graph, Claude, or similar technologies is a strong plus.
- Experience integrating business systems and working with APIs or webhooks is a plus.
- Experience with Monday.com, QuickBooks, or construction-industry software is helpful.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently while collaborating closely with leadership and department managers.
- A formal degree or certification is a plus, but relevant hands-on experience is equally important to us.
Why join our team?
We're growing, and we're looking for someone who wants to build something, not simply maintain what already exists.
You'll have significant autonomy and the opportunity to help shape our technology environment from the ground up. You'll work directly with leadership and department heads and have a direct impact on how efficiently the company operates.
This is a great opportunity for someone who loves the "geeky" side of technology, enjoys solving complex problems, and gets excited about finding smarter ways to work.
If you're the type of person who sees a manual process and immediately thinks, "I can automate that," we'd like to meet you.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
Work Location: In person

Systems Architect Jobs in New Jersey: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a systems architect in New Jersey?
Systems architect roles in New Jersey do not require a state-issued license, so the path runs through education and experience. Most employers expect a bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or systems engineering, along with several years of hands-on experience in systems design or software engineering. Earning a recognized architecture certification such as TOGAF or an AWS Solutions Architect credential strengthens your candidacy, and many New Jersey employers in pharma, finance, and defense treat those credentials as a practical differentiator.
How much do systems architects make in New Jersey?
Systems architects in New Jersey earn a median of about $108,310 a year, based on May 2025 Bureau of Labor Statistics wage data, ranging from around $48,380 for the lowest 10% to over $207,950 for the top 10%. Pay rises with experience, specialty, and employer.
Which companies hire systems architects in New Jersey?
Employers hiring systems architects in New Jersey right now include Lockheed Martin, Costello roofing, and Selective Insurance, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. New Jersey's density of pharmaceutical headquarters, financial services firms, and defense contractors means architecture demand tends to be consistent rather than cyclical, with openings spread across both large enterprise employers and mid-size technology consultancies.
Which New Jersey cities have the most systems architect jobs?
Linwood, Trenton, and Short Hills account for the greatest concentration of systems architect openings in New Jersey. Newark anchors demand through its financial services and logistics sectors, Princeton draws heavily from pharmaceutical and research-driven employers in the surrounding corridor, and Parsippany serves as a hub for large technology consulting firms and corporate headquarters that staff architecture roles across regional and national projects.
Are there remote systems architect jobs in New Jersey?
Yes, and more than most technical fields, because systems architect work is largely design, documentation, and collaboration rather than hands-on hardware. About 75% of systems architect openings tied to New Jersey are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting how broadly this role has shifted toward distributed work. Cloud architecture, enterprise integration design, and architecture governance are the sub-areas most consistently offered with remote or flexible arrangements.
How can I get hired as a systems architect in New Jersey with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is moving into a systems architect role from a senior software engineer, infrastructure engineer, or solutions engineer position rather than applying directly. Large New Jersey employers in pharma and financial services, including those in the Princeton corridor and the Newark metro, frequently post associate architect or junior architect titles that expect two to three years of engineering experience rather than deep architecture experience. Building a portfolio of architecture diagrams, earning a TOGAF Foundation or AWS Cloud Practitioner certification, and targeting internal promotions at companies already familiar with your work accelerates the transition considerably.
Where can I find and apply to systems architect jobs in New Jersey?
You can find and apply to systems architect jobs in New Jersey on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings from employers actively hiring in the state. Each listing connects directly to the application, so there is no extra layer between you and the role. Find roles that fit your experience and apply directly.
