Entry Level Tax Accountant Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level tax accountant job?
Start by completing a bachelor's degree in accounting or a related field, then prioritize internships at public accounting firms or corporate tax departments during your studies. Passing one or more sections of the CPA exam before you graduate signals commitment and gives you an edge. Tailor your resume to highlight tax coursework, software proficiency in tools like QuickBooks or ProConnect, and any hands-on experience preparing returns, even for personal clients.
Which companies hire entry level tax accountants?
Companies hiring entry level tax accountants right now include Intuit, CBIZ, and Koch, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. At the entry level, hiring covers regional public accounting firms, large national CPA practices, corporate in-house tax teams, and financial services companies that run structured graduate intake programs.
Are there remote entry level tax accountant jobs?
Yes, though on-site and hybrid roles are more common at this stage. About 8% of entry level tax accountant openings are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting firms that have adopted flexible work models even for junior staff. Fully remote positions tend to be more competitive at the entry level, so applying broadly across all work settings increases your chances.
Are these new grad tax accountant jobs?
Yes, entry level tax accountant postings include new grad, recent graduate, and junior roles. A new grad friendly posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience, accepts internships or co-op work in place of full-time history, and does not require an active CPA license, only progress toward one. If a listing mentions a degree requirement with no minimum years of post-graduation experience, it is almost always open to new grads applying directly from school.
Which industries hire the most entry level tax accountants?
Entry Level tax accountant roles concentrate in Technology & Software, Fintech, and Accounting & Auditing, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. These sectors generate consistent demand at the junior level because tax compliance, return preparation, and regulatory reporting are ongoing functions that firms staff with recent graduates and then develop internally through mentorship and structured training.
