INTRODUCTION
Toshiba Global Commerce Solutions is seeking a Senior Tax Accountant – Flex to join our corporate tax team and play a critical role in supporting tax compliance, reporting, and accounting activities across a dynamic multinational organization. This position requires strong technical expertise in federal, state, and international tax matters, as well as hands-on experience with ASC 740 tax provision preparation. The ideal candidate is an analytical and proactive professional who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and is committed to accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.
The Senior Tax Accountant will work collaboratively with finance, legal, treasury, and operational teams to ensure accurate and timely tax filings, financial statement reporting, and regulatory compliance obligations are met.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Master's degree in Taxation and/or CPA certification strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5+ years of progressive tax experience, ideally combining public accounting experience (Big 4 preferred) and corporate tax experience within a multinational organization.
- Strong technical knowledge of U.S. corporate income tax law and ASC 740 tax accounting principles.
- Exposure to international tax concepts and compliance requirements preferred.
- Proficiency with tax software platforms such as OneSource or CorpTax, and ERP/accounting systems including SAP or Oracle.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills required.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving capabilities with exceptional attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax matters to both finance and non-finance stakeholders.
- Self-motivated professional capable of working independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and review federal, state, and local income and franchise tax returns to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations.
- Gather and analyze financial data and prepare supporting tax workpapers.
- Coordinate with external tax service providers as needed to support filing requirements and compliance activities.
- Assist with quarterly and annual tax provision processes in accordance with ASC 740.
- Calculate effective tax rates and maintain deferred tax schedules.
- Prepare tax-related journal entries and financial statement disclosures for SEC reporting.
- Support federal and state tax audits by gathering requested documentation and responding to inquiries from taxing authorities.
- Perform technical analysis related to audit matters and collaborate with leadership on issue resolution strategies.
- Conduct tax research related to compliance requirements, business transactions, and tax planning initiatives.
- Prepare technical memoranda and communicate research findings and recommendations to stakeholders.
- Assist in maintaining and monitoring Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) internal controls related to the tax function.
- Update process documentation and participate in internal control testing activities.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with accounting, treasury, legal, and operational teams to provide tax guidance and support business initiatives.
- Ensure tax implications are appropriately considered in business decisions and operational processes.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and operational efficiencies within the tax department.
- Support initiatives aimed at enhancing the accuracy, effectiveness, and scalability of tax compliance and reporting activities.
