Tax Director Jobs in Dallas: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a tax director job in Dallas?
Focus your search on Dallas's densest hiring corridors: corporate headquarters in Uptown and the CBD, energy and midstream companies along the Tollway, and financial services firms in Las Colinas. Candidates with public accounting backgrounds from regional or Big Four firms carry a clear edge here. Deep experience in federal and state tax planning, ASC 740 provision work, or M&A due diligence tends to differentiate applicants in Dallas's competitive market.
Which companies hire tax directors in Dallas?
Dallas tax director roles are posted by Weaver, EisnerAmper, and Oscar Health and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. The Dallas market skews toward large publicly traded corporations, private equity-backed portfolio companies, and energy producers that require seasoned in-house tax leadership.
Are there remote tax director jobs in Dallas?
Yes, though tax director roles are only moderately remote-friendly given the oversight, collaboration, and confidentiality demands of senior tax leadership. About 27% of tax director openings tied to Dallas are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, with hybrid arrangements being far more common than fully remote. Provision review, tax research, and planning work tend to be the most location-flexible functions in Dallas-based roles.
How can I get a tax director job in Dallas with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is a senior tax manager role at a Dallas-area public accounting firm or a large corporate tax department, then stepping into a director seat after three to five years. Mid-size energy companies along the Dallas North Tollway and regional banks in Las Colinas often promote internally from senior manager. Building experience with multistate compliance and ASC 740 reporting gives candidates the strongest foundation for that transition locally.
