Tax Services Manager Jobs in Boston: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a tax services manager job in Boston?
Focus on Boston's public accounting firms clustered in the Financial District and Back Bay, along with the corporate tax functions of financial services and life sciences employers concentrated in Seaport and Kendall Square. Candidates with CPA credentials, Big Four or regional firm experience, and exposure to multi-state or international tax issues consistently stand out. Networking through the Massachusetts Society of CPAs also opens doors that cold applications often don't.
Which companies hire tax services managers in Boston?
Employers hiring tax services managers in Boston right now include BDO, RSM, and KLR, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of September 2026. Boston's mix of global accounting firms, regional mid-market practices, and in-house tax teams at major financial services and biotech companies creates consistent demand across firm sizes and industry verticals.
Are there remote tax services manager jobs in Boston?
Yes, though availability depends on the role type, since client-facing and team leadership duties often require in-person presence while technical review and advisory work can shift off-site. About 90% of tax services manager openings tied to Boston are remote or hybrid as of September 2026, reflecting post-pandemic flexibility that has held across the local market. Research and compliance-heavy roles at corporate tax departments tend to offer the most consistent hybrid arrangements.
How can I get a tax services manager job in Boston with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is joining a regional or mid-market accounting firm in Boston as a senior tax associate or supervisor, then building toward a manager title over two to three years. Firms in the Back Bay and Financial District regularly hire candidates with two or more years of public accounting experience and an active CPA. Targeting Boston-based companies in financial services or life sciences for in-house tax roles is a strong lateral move once you have technical grounding.
Which industries hire the most tax services managers in Boston?

Boston's density of asset managers, biotech firms, and professional services companies sustains ongoing demand for tax managers who can handle complex, multi-entity, or cross-border structures specific to those sectors.
