Entry Level Tech Lead Jobs: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get an entry level tech lead job?
Entry level tech lead roles reward candidates who can show early leadership in a team setting, even from a class project, hackathon, or internship. Employers at this level look for solid fundamentals in your technical stack, a portfolio that demonstrates initiative, and the ability to communicate clearly with both engineers and stakeholders. A history of mentoring peers, even informally, gives you a concrete edge.
Which companies hire entry level tech leads?
Companies hiring entry level tech leads right now include Capital One, Orlando Health, and CommonSpirit Health, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. Hiring at this level comes from a mix of fast-growing startups building out their first engineering teams and established technology and product companies with structured early-career programs.
Are there remote entry level tech lead jobs?
Yes, though remote openings are more selective at the entry level than at senior levels. About 8% of entry level tech lead openings are remote or hybrid as of June 2026, so there are real options for candidates who need flexibility. Hybrid roles are especially common, giving new grads regular in-person time with the engineering team while preserving schedule flexibility.
Are these new grad tech lead jobs?
Yes, the listings on this page include new grad, recent graduate, and junior roles alongside entry level postings. A new-grad-friendly tech lead posting typically welcomes zero to two years of experience, counts internships and academic projects toward that threshold, and does not require prior people management. Look for language like "junior tech lead," "associate tech lead," or "new grad engineering lead" as clear signals.
Which industries hire the most entry level tech leads?
Entry level tech lead roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Banking & Financial Services, and Technology & Software, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of June 2026. These sectors drive hiring at this level because they build and ship software products at scale, creating a constant need for early-career engineers who can begin coordinating small teams or owning discrete technical workstreams from the start.
