Utilize non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques and principles (Liquid Penetrant, Visual, Film Radiography, Digital Radiography, and/or Computed Tomography) to evaluate product acceptability, validate hardware engineering designs, and consult on test results from destructive physical analysis and failure analysis.
The Operations Strategic Capabilities Unit plays a fundamental role in enabling efficient business and program execution – from strategic capital investments, industrial operations and an efficient supply chain, to state-of-the-art manufacturing and test operations and top-notch facilities management.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform non-destructive testing of materials or articles in order to assure compliance to established requirements of ASTM E1742 and ASTM E1417, as well as BAE Systems Space & Mission Systems (SMS) standards and work instructions.
- Must be able to certify in Radiography & Liquid Penetrant per NAS410 & BAE System Space & Mission Systems (SMS).
- Perform visual weld inspections as an American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector (AWS-CWI) and/or NAS410 Level 2 Visual Inspector.
- Interest and ability to learn computed tomography & digital radiography.
- Perform and/or assist with data analysis and interpretation of inspection results.
- Must have the ability to apply/enforce/comprehend accept/reject criteria and revision status from engineering drawings, MIL-specs, industry standards, screening specs, or process certification training.
- Have functional understanding of other NDT methods, such as Ultrasonics, Eddy Current, Magnetic Particle, etc.
- Coordinate with purchasing to order lab supplies as needed.
- Be able to work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects.
- Compile and prepare necessary data and engineering items to support technical meetings and end-item product delivery.
- Be able to provide and communicate understanding of both the technical and programmatic aspects of a project to the team as well as the customer.
- May work with classified documents which requires thorough knowledge of DoW procedures for the proper usage and safeguarding of classified information.
- Maintain and update required records and reports.
- Present and resolve any technical program difficulties or discrepancies with the team to create solutions in a timely manner.
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions:
Work is performed in an office environment, laboratory, cleanroom, or production floor.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
- High School diploma or equivalent plus 3 years or more related experience.
- Each higher-level related degree, i.e., Bachelor’s or Master’s, may substitute for two years of related experience. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
- Certified Weld Inspector certification.
- Previous or current NAS410 Level 2 certifications in Radiography, Liquid Penetrant, or Visual.
- X-Ray IRRSP certification.
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $66017 - $105628
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
