INTRODUCTION
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) School of Dentistry (SOD) has an excellent opportunity for an IT Instructional Technology Specialist.
The IT Instructional Technology Specialist will perform a variety of tasks to promote and aid faculty and staff in the delivery of instruction by creating technical-based learning experiences. This position will facilitate technology-rich teaching and learning by providing technical support to the Department’s learning management system for in-person, online, and hybrid modules. This includes support for self-paced asynchronous modules, audio/video components, and other training resources for faculty, staff, and students.

Primary Duties:
- Assists faculty and students in the use of technology in learning applications and equipment using a wide variety of available technologies, such as Microsoft Office 365 and other PC presentation software, Blackboard Ultra enterprise learning software, Qwickly attendance tracking software, Mediasite lecture capture software and distance learning (DL) technologies such as Microsoft Teams and Zoom video conferencing software.
- Provides daily support and advice to faculty, staff, and students in effectively using instructional technology applications and/or equipment.
- Conducts formal presentations in the use of specific technology materials.
- Monitors use and secures audio/visual, multimedia, video production, and IT equipment as appropriate.
- Assists with the department's or school's presence on the web in the design and integration of special learning features.
- May collaborate on training plans and blended learning implementation strategies and in the design and customization of curriculum and provide consultation on course media use.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Bachelor's degree in field and/or related field, such as Graphic or Instructional Design. Master's degree preferred.
Experience: Two (2) years of related experience which includes proficiency with audio/visual, multimedia, video production or IT resources.
Other: Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted.

Hiring Range: $68,000 - $77,000, Commensurate with education and experience
