Position Summary
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for supporting accurate, timely, and compliant payroll processing using Workday. This role partners with Human Resources, Finance, and business stakeholders to maintain payroll data integrity, resolve payroll issues, support reporting and reconciliations, and help ensure adherence to applicable wage and tax regulations as well as company policies.
Key Responsibilities
- Process recurring, off-cycle, and adjustment payroll activities in Workday with a high degree of accuracy and attention to deadlines.
- Review, validate, and maintain payroll-related data including earnings, deductions, taxes, time records, and direct deposit information.
- Audit payroll results and research discrepancies prior to final payroll submission.
- Respond to employee and stakeholder payroll questions in a professional, timely, and service-oriented manner.
- Partner with HR, managers, Finance, and other internal teams to resolve payroll issues and ensure data accuracy across systems.
- Prepare payroll reports, reconciliations, and supporting documentation for internal review and compliance needs.
- Support payroll compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations, company policies, and internal controls.
- Assist with year-end payroll activities, tax reporting, record retention, and audit support.
- Participate in process improvement efforts, documentation updates, testing activities, and system enhancement initiatives related to Workday payroll processes.
- Handle sensitive and confidential employee information with discretion and professionalism.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Human Resources, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
- Experience processing payroll in Workday or a comparable HRIS/payroll platform.
- Working knowledge of payroll practices, wage and hour requirements, and payroll tax fundamentals.
- Strong attention to detail, analytical ability, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and payroll reporting tools.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting multi-state payroll processing.
- Experience with payroll audits, reconciliations, and compliance reporting.
- Familiarity with HR, benefits, and timekeeping system integrations.

Annual Base Salary Range or Hourly Base Pay Range:
$63,111.66 - $87,639.99
