Test Engineer Jobs in New Hampshire: Frequently Asked Questions
How do you become a test engineer in New Hampshire?
Most test engineer roles in New Hampshire require a bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a related technical discipline. New Hampshire does not require a state-issued engineering license for test engineers working in industry, but candidates pursuing professional engineer status can apply through the New Hampshire Board of Professional Engineers. Employers in the defense and semiconductor sectors often prioritize candidates who can obtain a DoD security clearance.
Which companies hire test engineers in New Hampshire?
New Hampshire test engineer roles are posted by BAE Systems USA, Fidelity TalentSource, and FireEye and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Defense contractors and precision electronics manufacturers along the Route 3 and Route 101 corridors account for a large share of the state's ongoing test engineering demand.
Which New Hampshire cities have the most test engineer jobs?
Nashua, Merrimack, and Salem have the most test engineer openings in New Hampshire. Manchester and Nashua anchor the southern tier's defense and electronics industries, drawing the largest share of postings, while the Portsmouth and Hampton areas on the Seacoast support additional demand from aerospace, naval systems, and advanced manufacturing employers based there.
Are there remote test engineer jobs in New Hampshire?
Yes, but they're less common than in purely software-focused roles, since test engineers frequently work with physical hardware and on-site equipment. About 75% of test engineer openings tied to New Hampshire are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, with remote work most accessible for roles focused on software test automation, test planning, or validation documentation rather than hands-on lab and hardware work.
How can I get hired as a test engineer in New Hampshire with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path is an internship or co-op with one of New Hampshire's defense or electronics manufacturers, many of which partner with the University of New Hampshire and Southern New Hampshire University to bring in engineering students before graduation. Entry-level titles like test technician, quality assurance associate, or manufacturing test associate appear regularly and serve as direct stepping stones. Building proficiency in Python or LabVIEW and earning a CompTIA or IPC certification strengthens applications for candidates without prior industry experience.
Where can I find and apply to test engineer jobs in New Hampshire?
You can find and apply to test engineer jobs in New Hampshire on Migrate Mate, which lists current openings across the state. Search the listings to find roles that match your experience level and specialization, then apply directly to the ones that fit.
