Therapist Jobs in Brooklyn: Frequently Asked Questions
How do I get a therapist job in Brooklyn?
Focus your search on Brooklyn's community mental health clinics, hospital-affiliated outpatient programs, and the expanding network of school-based counseling services across neighborhoods like Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights, and Sunset Park. Candidates with licensure in a clinical specialty, bilingual fluency, or experience with trauma-informed care have a clear edge in this market, where caseloads tend to reflect the borough's diverse, high-need population.
Which companies hire therapists in Brooklyn?
Brooklyn therapist roles are posted by Headway Services, JAG Physical Therapy, and SPEAR Physical Therapy and others right now, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. Hiring tends to come from a mix of large hospital networks, nonprofit community health organizations, and independent group practices spread throughout the borough.
Are there remote therapist jobs in Brooklyn?
Yes, though therapy roles vary considerably, with telehealth positions more available than fully remote options for in-person clinical work. About 6% of therapist openings tied to Brooklyn are remote or hybrid as of July 2026, reflecting the growth of telehealth platforms and insurance reimbursement for virtual sessions. Intake coordination, case management support, and certain outpatient counseling roles are most likely to offer remote or hybrid flexibility.
How can I get a therapist job in Brooklyn with little or no experience?
The most realistic entry path in Brooklyn is a supervised internship or practicum placement at one of the borough's community mental health centers or nonprofit social service agencies, which routinely bring on pre-licensed clinicians. Roles like mental health counselor associate, residential counselor, or behavioral health technician open the door locally, and employers in Brownsville, East New York, and Flatbush frequently hire candidates still working toward full licensure.
Which industries hire the most therapists in Brooklyn?
Brooklyn therapist roles concentrate in Healthcare & Medical Services, Non-Profit & Social Services, and Consulting & Professional Services, based on current listings on Migrate Mate as of July 2026. The borough's dense network of federally qualified health centers, public school system expansion, and growing private-pay therapy market across gentrifying neighborhoods all drive sustained demand across those sectors.
