Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Actuarial Analyst
Align your credentials to actuarial science explicitly
TN eligibility requires a bachelor's degree or higher in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science. A finance or business degree won't qualify on its own, so get a credential evaluation if your transcript doesn't clearly map to these fields.
Target employers experienced with visa sponsorship
Large insurers, consulting actuarial firms, and reinsurance companies regularly sponsor TN professionals. Use Migrate Mate to filter Actuarial Analyst roles by employers with recent visa filings, which signals experience with work visa sponsorship processes and streamlines your hiring conversation with HR.
Distinguish your SOC code in the offer letter
Ask your employer to reference the actuarial science occupation explicitly in the offer letter, not a generic analyst title. CBP officers verify TN eligibility at the border, and a vague job description is one of the most common reasons for delays.
Have your actuarial exam progress documented upfront
Employers frequently ask whether you've passed SOA or CAS exams because exam status affects your salary band and level of supervision. Bring official exam transcripts or SOA candidate status letters to your offer negotiation stage, not just your degree.
Prepare for same-day status at the Canadian land border
Canadian citizens can obtain TN status directly at a port of entry without a prior visa appointment. Bring your offer letter, degree transcripts, and any professional certifications. Processing typically takes under an hour if your documents clearly establish specialty occupation.
Understand how TN renewals interact with employer changes
TN status is employer-specific. If you switch actuarial roles mid-status, your employer must file a new TN petition or you re-enter at the border with updated documents. Build this step into your timeline when evaluating competing offers.

Find Actuarial Analyst JobsActuarial Analyst TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Actuarial Analyst role actually qualify for TN visa status?
Yes. Actuaries and actuarial scientists are explicitly listed in the USMCA TN occupations appendix under mathematics and actuarial science. Your job title doesn't need to say 'actuary' verbatim, but the role description must clearly involve actuarial modeling, risk assessment, or statistical analysis tied to insurance or financial risk, and your degree must be in a qualifying field.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Actuarial Analyst positions?
TN is faster and more predictable for most Canadian actuarial candidates. There's no annual lottery, no cap, and no waiting period for Canadians entering at a land border. H-1B is subject to an annual lottery with roughly 25% selection odds for most registrants. The tradeoff is that TN doesn't build toward permanent residency the way H-1B sponsorship can, so your long-term immigration goals matter when choosing between them.
What documents do I need my employer to provide for TN sponsorship?
Your employer needs to issue a formal offer letter that includes your job title, a description of actuarial duties, your start date, the employer's name and address, and your compensation. The letter must confirm you'll perform professional actuarial work. Some CBP officers also expect the employer to reference your degree field explicitly, so a well-drafted letter is essential.
Where can I find Actuarial Analyst jobs that already offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. You can filter roles by TN-eligible occupations and see which employers have a history of sponsoring international professionals, rather than sorting through postings that either don't mention sponsorship or list H-1B only. It removes the guesswork of cold-applying to employers unfamiliar with TN.
Can Mexican actuarial professionals also use the TN visa for these roles?
Yes, but the process differs. Mexican TN applicants must apply at a U.S. consulate in Mexico and receive a TN visa stamp before entry, rather than obtaining status directly at the border like Canadians can. There is also a separate numerical limit on TN visas issued to Mexican nationals each fiscal year, so applying early in the fiscal year reduces the risk of hitting that cap.
