Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Assistant Vice President
Match your credentials to a qualifying TN category
AVP titles span multiple TN categories depending on the actual duties. A finance-focused AVP may qualify under Economist or Accountant, while a strategy role fits Management Consultant. Get your degree evaluated before targeting employers to avoid misclassification at the border.
Target banks and financial firms experienced with visa sponsorship
Large financial institutions and regional banks frequently sponsor work visas for AVP roles because they understand the sponsorship process and have internal immigration teams. Focus your search on employers with recent visa filings rather than those sponsoring visa workers for the first time.
Use Migrate Mate to find AVP roles with TN sponsorship
Searching broadly for AVP openings buries you in listings from employers unfamiliar with TN eligibility. Migrate Mate filters specifically for TN visa sponsorship, so you spend time applying to roles where the employer is already prepared to support your status.
Prepare a TN support letter before your offer stage
Canadian professionals entering at a port of entry need a support letter from the employer detailing your AVP duties, the qualifying TN category, and your degree alignment. Draft a template with your future employer during negotiations so nothing delays your start date.
Clarify whether your AVP role involves third-party client work
Management Consultant TN approvals can draw scrutiny when the role involves placing you at a client site rather than working directly for the sponsoring employer. CBP officers assess who controls your daily work, so your support letter must describe the employer relationship precisely.
Negotiate a TN renewal timeline into your employment terms
TN status is granted in three-year increments with no cap on renewals, but each renewal requires active employer sponsorship. Confirm before signing that your employer has a documented process for renewing TN petitions so continuity of your status isn't left to chance.

Find Assistant Vice President JobsAssistant Vice President TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Assistant Vice President role qualify for a TN visa?
It depends on your actual duties, not your title. AVP roles can qualify under the Management Consultant, Economist, or Accountant TN categories if the position requires a bachelor's degree in a relevant field and the daily responsibilities align with that category's definition. A generic AVP title without a clear professional category won't qualify on its own.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for AVP positions?
TN has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, meaning you can start as soon as your employer has the paperwork ready. H-1B requires entering a randomized lottery each spring, and selection isn't guaranteed. For AVP roles that fit a TN category, TN sponsorship is faster and more predictable than waiting on H-1B lottery results.
Where can I find Assistant Vice President jobs that sponsor TN visas?
Most general job boards don't filter by visa sponsorship type, making it difficult to identify which AVP openings are open to TN candidates. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search, letting you filter for TN-eligible roles so you target employers already prepared to sponsor USMCA professionals rather than cold-pitching employers unfamiliar with the process.
Can a Mexican citizen get TN sponsorship for an AVP role?
Yes, but the process differs from Canadian applicants. Mexican TN applicants must apply for a TN visa stamp at a U.S. consulate in Mexico before entering, rather than presenting at a port of entry. The qualification criteria are identical, but processing takes longer. Employers familiar with USMCA hiring typically know both processes.
What happens to my TN status if I'm promoted or change employers?
A promotion that changes your job category or core duties may require a new TN filing with updated documentation. Changing employers always requires a new TN petition tied to the new sponsoring company. You can't carry your existing TN to a new employer the way some other statuses allow. Coordinate any transition with your new employer's immigration contact before your last day at your current role.
