Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Program Associate
Match your degree to the TN category
Program Associate positions can fall under multiple TN categories depending on your duties. A social science or public policy degree typically maps to the Social Worker category. Confirm the degree-to-category alignment before applying, since a mismatch is the most common denial trigger.
Target nonprofits with established immigration infrastructure
Advocacy organizations, research institutes, and foundations that regularly hire internationally tend to have HR teams familiar with TN documentation requirements. Prioritize employers who have posted roles with explicit work authorization support rather than those listing sponsorship as a future possibility.
Request a detailed offer letter before filing
Your TN application lives or dies on the offer letter. It must specify your job title, duties, degree requirement, and employment period. Ask HR to include language confirming the position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field before you travel to the port of entry.
Search TN-eligible Program Associate jobs on Migrate Mate
Migrate Mate filters Program Associate listings by employers with recent visa filings, so you spend time on roles with a real path forward. Use it to identify which organizations are experienced with visa sponsorship rather than guessing from job descriptions.
Prepare for Canadian port-of-entry processing
Canadian citizens can apply for TN status directly at a U.S. land border or airport without a visa stamp. Bring your offer letter, degree transcripts, and resume. CBP officers adjudicate on the spot, so organizing your documents into a clear packet reduces processing time significantly.
Understand the Mexican consular appointment timeline
Mexican citizens must apply for a TN visa at a U.S. consulate and cannot use port-of-entry processing. Consular appointment availability varies by location and season, so factor four to eight weeks into your start date negotiation with the employer.

Find Program Associate JobsProgram Associate TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Program Associate role qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
It depends on your specific duties and degree. Program Associate positions in social services, policy research, or community development can qualify under TN categories such as Social Worker, provided your role requires a relevant bachelor's degree and your duties match the category definition. Roles that are primarily administrative without a degree requirement typically do not qualify.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Program Associate positions?
The TN visa has no annual lottery, no cap for Canadians, and can be approved at the port of entry in a single day. The H-1B requires employer sponsorship through a lottery with only a roughly one-in-four selection rate and a wait of up to a year before you can start. For Program Associates who qualify under a TN category, TN is a faster and more predictable path.
Where can I find Program Associate jobs that already support TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Program Associate listings from employers with TN visa sponsorship history, so you can focus on organizations that have already navigated the process rather than cold-applying and discovering sponsorship isn't available after an offer is extended.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a detailed offer letter stating your job title, a description of duties, the educational requirement for the position, your start date, and your salary. For Mexican citizens, the employer may also need to support a DS-160 application and consular interview. USCIS and CBP both scrutinize whether the letter demonstrates the role genuinely requires a degree in a qualifying field.
Can a Program Associate on TN status switch employers mid-year?
Yes, but TN status is tied to your specific employer and job offer. If you change employers, your new employer must support a new TN application before you begin work. Canadian citizens can process this at a port of entry. Mexican citizens need a new TN visa stamp, which requires a consular appointment. Plan for a gap between roles if your timing is tight.
