Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Business Planning Manager
Frame your credentials around USMCA categories
TN eligibility for Business Planning Managers falls under Management Consultant, not a generic business category. Gather documentation showing your degree is in business, economics, or a related field, and that your role involves advisory-level planning functions.
Target employers with cross-border hiring experience
Focus your search on companies that already employ Canadian or Mexican professionals in planning or strategy roles. These employers understand the TN process and are less likely to stall on sponsorship because of unfamiliarity with the USMCA framework.
Clarify the Management Consultant classification early
Some hiring teams assume Business Planning Manager roles require H-1B sponsorship. Bring up TN eligibility before the offer stage and explain that no lottery is involved for Canadians, which removes the biggest employer hesitation around sponsorship timelines.
Search TN-specific job listings on Migrate Mate
Use Migrate Mate to filter Business Planning Manager openings by TN visa sponsorship, so you're only applying to employers who have already indicated willingness to sponsor. This cuts the back-and-forth that slows most sponsorship conversations.
Prepare a TN support letter before you need it
Once you have an offer, your employer needs to provide a support letter describing your role, duties, and how they align with Management Consultant criteria. Draft a template with your job description language ready so the filing moves quickly after signing.
Know your entry options before the border
Canadians can apply for TN status directly at a U.S. port of entry, bypassing consular processing entirely. Mexicans must apply at a U.S. consulate. Knowing which process applies to you determines how you plan your start date with your employer.

Find Business Planning Manager JobsBusiness Planning Manager TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Business Planning Manager role qualify for TN visa status?
Yes, provided the role is classified under the USMCA's Management Consultant category. The position must involve strategic advisory or planning functions at a level that goes beyond routine management. Your employer's support letter needs to describe duties that align with that definition, and your degree should be in business, economics, or a directly related field.
How does TN visa sponsorship compare to H-1B for this role?
For Business Planning Manager roles, TN is faster and more predictable than H-1B. There's no annual lottery, no cap for Canadian citizens, and Canadians can receive TN status at a U.S. port of entry on the day they arrive. H-1B requires filing months in advance with no guaranteed selection. For roles that fit the Management Consultant category, TN is the more practical path.
What does my employer actually have to do to sponsor my TN visa?
Your employer prepares a support letter outlining your job title, duties, how the role qualifies under the Management Consultant category, your qualifications, and the terms of employment. Canadians present this letter at the port of entry. Mexicans need the employer to support a consular application. There's no USCIS petition required for Canadian applicants at the border.
Where can I find Business Planning Manager jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It filters job listings by TN visa sponsorship so you can see which employers are already open to hiring Canadian and Mexican professionals under USMCA. That saves time compared to filtering out roles where you'd have to initiate the sponsorship conversation from scratch.
Can I switch employers on a TN visa if I find a better Business Planning Manager role?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to your current employer. To change jobs, you need a new TN application supported by your incoming employer before or at the time you start. Canadians can handle this at the port of entry. Working for a new employer before obtaining the updated TN status puts you out of status, so timing the transition carefully matters.
