DESCRIPTION
Shopbop is seeking a Creative Lead, Social Content to define and elevate the creative voice of our brand across paid and organic social channels. This role sets the vision, tone, and storytelling approach for social, translating brand and campaign ideas into platform-native, culturally relevant content that leads, not follows.
This role operates fluidly between directing and hands-on creation—guiding teams, shaping ideas early, and stepping in to create. They act as a connective force across creative, marketing, and social teams to ensure a cohesive and elevated output across all channels.
You’ll translate seasonal stories, product priorities, and cultural moments into social-first creative that feels directional, elevated, and distinctly Shopbop. We’re not looking to chase trends, we aim to set them. The right candidate is deeply plugged into fashion, culture, and digital behavior, with strong instincts for what’s next and the taste level to define it.
This role is highly hands-on: directing lean shoots, hand’s-on content design and editing, experimenting with generative AI, and building smart, efficient workflows that allow us to create more with speed and intention.
This role sits at the intersection of great fashion content and fast test-and-learn environments. If that sounds like you, we encourage you to apply! This role is for someone who has a strong point of view and taste level and isn’t afraid to define what good looks like, moves seamlessly between big-picture direction and scrappy execution, can lead a room, direct a shoot, and edit a concept themselves if needed, and understands how to balance brand storytelling with platform behavior and performance.
Reports to the Creative Director.
Key Responsibilities
- Define and lead the creative direction for social media content, setting the tone, visual language, and storytelling approach across all platforms
- Concept big ideas and see them through, translating brand campaigns and product priorities into narrative-driven, social-first content
- Build stories, not just posts, developing serialized formats and content that audiences come back to
- Shape how we show up on each platform (Instagram, TikTok, Pinterest, and beyond), while keeping a clear, cohesive brand voice
- Spot what’s happening in culture, and decide where we lead, not follow
Creative Leadership
- Plug into campaigns, shoots, and editorial early, bringing a social-first lens from the start, not as an afterthought
- Move easily between teams, stepping in to direct, refine, and elevate work wherever it’s happening
- Partner closely with Social and Marketing to make work that is both brand-building and performance-aware
Maker Mentality
- Operate as both a creative director and a creator, building decks, shaping ideas, and making content when it matters
- Stay close to the work: framing, editing, refining, and pushing ideas to a higher bar
Experimentation + Systems
- Use AI and emerging tools as creative accelerants, expanding what’s possible and how fast we can get there
- Test, learn, and iterate constantly—without losing taste or intention
- Build systems that scale; evolving templates, guidelines, and ways of working that keep quality high as we move faster
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts, Design, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5–8+ years of art direction or visual content experience in fashion, retail, or lifestyle
- Strong portfolio that demonstrates both elevated taste and scrappy execution across social platforms
- Strong creative point of view and a clear perspective on fashion, culture, and content
- Proven ability to generate original concepts and visual direction, not trend replication
- Proven ability to lead creative direction across projects and influence outcomes across cross-functional teams
- Experience directing photo and short-form video shoots
- Ability to operate at both high-level creative direction and hands-on execution
- Experience using generative AI tools to support creative concepting and production workflows
- Strong design fundamentals (composition, typography, color, layout)
- Comfortable working fast, managing multiple projects, and wearing multiple hats
- Deep understanding of platform behaviors and how to translate brand storytelling into native social formats
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience creating content for paid social performance marketing
- Familiarity with TikTok/Reels creation and editing workflows
- Motion graphics or video editing experience
- Experience working in small, agile creative teams or startup-style environments
- Deep interest in fashion, styling, and cultural trends
- Usage of generative AI tools to enhance workflow efficiency, with a willingness to learn effective prompting and evaluation practices
- Ability to recognize opportunities where generative AI could enhance products, workflows, or customer experiences

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Creative Lead
Align your portfolio to specialty occupation standards
TN approval hinges on demonstrating a direct link between your degree and the Creative Lead role. Structure your portfolio to show strategic design leadership, not just execution, so the role reads as specialty occupation rather than general creative work.
Target employers with dedicated in-house creative teams
Companies with established in-house creative departments are far more likely to have HR teams familiar with TN sponsorship. Search for mid-to-large brands with internal brand, UX, or content studios rather than agencies that rely on freelance or contract structures.
Clarify which TN category your role falls under
Creative Lead does not appear as a named TN category. Work with your employer to determine whether your duties align with Graphic Designer, Computer Systems Analyst, or another listed occupation before the offer letter is drafted.
Request a duty-specific offer letter from your employer
A vague offer letter is one of the most common reasons TN applications stall at the border or consulate. Ask your employer to describe specific duties that map to the qualifying TN category, your required credentials, and the temporary nature of the engagement.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers actively filing TN petitions
Searching general job boards surfaces roles with no confirmed sponsorship path. Migrate Mate filters Creative Lead openings by employers with active TN visa sponsorship history, so you spend time on roles where the filing infrastructure already exists.
Prepare for consulate scrutiny if you hold a Mexican passport
Mexican TN applicants face a numerical cap and consular processing, which adds review time. Bring your degree transcripts, a credential evaluation if your degree is not from a Mexican or U.S. institution, and documentation tying your field of study to creative leadership.

Find Creative Lead JobsCreative Lead TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Creative Lead role actually qualify for a TN visa?
It can, but the job title alone does not determine eligibility. TN visa categories are defined by USMCA's occupation list, and Creative Lead must map to a qualifying category such as Graphic Designer or Computer Systems Analyst. Your employer's offer letter needs to describe duties that align with that specific category, and your degree must match the field. Roles that blend strategy, branding, and cross-functional leadership can qualify, but the framing matters.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Creative Lead positions?
The TN visa has no lottery and no annual cap for Canadian citizens, which makes it far more predictable than the H-1B for most Creative Lead candidates. H-1B selection is random, delays employment by up to a year, and requires an employer to file months in advance. TN approval for Canadians can happen at the port of entry on the day you travel, provided your documentation is complete. Mexican citizens still face consular processing, but there is no lottery element.
What documentation does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a signed offer letter on company letterhead that specifies your job title, the qualifying TN occupation category, your duties, the wage offered, and the intended duration of employment. The letter should also confirm that the position is temporary and that you meet the educational requirements for the role. Vague or generic offer letters are a leading cause of TN delays or denials at the border.
Where can I find Creative Lead jobs where employers already understand TN sponsorship?
Most general job postings do not specify TN visa sponsorship, which means you spend significant time screening out roles that won't work. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this: it surfaces Creative Lead openings from employers with recent visa filings, so you can focus on applications where the hiring team already understands work visa sponsorship and is prepared to support your TN application with the required employer letter and documentation.
Can I switch Creative Lead employers while on TN status?
Yes, but you cannot simply start working for a new employer on your existing TN. Each TN is employer-specific. Canadian citizens can obtain new TN status at the port of entry with a new offer letter from the incoming employer. Mexican citizens must return to a U.S. consulate for a new TN visa stamp. You should not begin work with the new employer until the new TN is approved, so plan your transition timeline accordingly.
