Our colleagues work together and celebrate together. If you want to advance the world of fintech, we’d like to ask you: Are you FIS?
About The Team:
The Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) Technical Documentation and Training team is part of FIS Government Solutions. We are a distributed team (US and India) with a mission to deliver quality materials on time for our state clients and internal stakeholders.
About The Role:
Lead the strategy, development and governance of client-facing technical documentation for FIS Government Solutions. You will independently own deliverables, define standards, drive cross-functional reviews, and mentor writers to deliver accurate, compliant and user-centered content (e.g., system design documents, application user manuals, and report/interface specifications). Success in this role requires tenacity in pursuing answers, a probing curiosity to learn product behavior and business context, and the judgment to turn ambiguity into clear documentation decisions.
What You Will Be Doing:
- Support a small team of writers who produce a complete documentation set for multiple state clients and applications; evaluate work and assign tasks
- Determine documentation updates by reviewing requirements/design inputs and confirming scope with product, development, test, and project management teams
- Produce clear client-facing deliverables, including system documents, user manuals, report/interface specifications, job aids and training/communications artifacts
- Lead and facilitate review meetings with state clients and internal subject matter experts; drive timely feedback and incorporate revisions to maintain accuracy
- Mentor and coach writers; provide editorial feedback, quality checks and guidance on tools and processes
- Manage documentation repository; maintain version control and archival copies of approved documents
- Define and enforce documentation standards, templates, and style guidelines; set team policies and lead continuous improvement efforts
What You Will Need:
- 7+ years of experience in technical writing in a software development environment, including maintaining and updating an established documentation set
- Proven ability to multi-task across multiple projects, meet deadlines, and build effective working relationships with diverse colleagues, clients and stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work independently and take full ownership of content quality, timelines, approvals, and deliverables
- Tenacity when obtaining answers from SMEs and source systems; ability to ask relevant follow-up questions and persist until information is complete and verified
- Probing curiosity and a desire to learn product behavior, client/business context and end-to-end processes (including EBT domain content)
- Strong writing and editing skills with attention to detail and a focus on usability for target audiences
- Proficiency with documentation and collaboration tools, including Microsoft Word (strong skills), Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint/Teams, and Jira
- Experience using screen capture/editing tools (e.g., Snagit) and working with graphics/visuals for user documentation
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education, training, and work
Added Bonus If You Have:
- Experience in financial services, payments, or other highly regulated industries
- Experience with public benefit programs, especially EBT (SNAP, TANF, WIC)
- Experience developing and delivering training materials and/or facilitating training sessions
- Familiarity with content management concepts or tools (structured content, single-sourcing, versioning and release management)
- Experience with short video development and production tools
What We Offer You:
At FIS, you can learn, grow and make an impact in your career. Our benefits include:
- Flexible and creative work environment
- Diverse and collaborative atmosphere
- Professional and personal development resources
- Opportunities to volunteer and support charities
- Competitive salary and benefits

Align your portfolio to specialty occupation standards
TN visa approval hinges on demonstrating a direct link between your degree and the Creative Lead role. Structure your portfolio to show strategic design leadership, not just execution, so the role reads as specialty occupation rather than general creative work.
Target employers with dedicated in-house creative teams
Companies with established in-house creative departments are far more likely to have HR teams familiar with TN sponsorship. Search for mid-to-large brands with internal brand, UX, or content studios rather than agencies that rely on freelance or contract structures.
Clarify which TN category your role falls under
Creative Lead does not appear as a named TN category. Work with your employer to determine whether your duties align with Graphic Designer, Computer Systems Analyst, or another listed occupation before the offer letter is drafted.
Request a duty-specific offer letter from your employer
A vague offer letter is one of the most common reasons TN applications stall at the border or consulate. Ask your employer to describe specific duties that map to the qualifying TN category, your required credentials, and the temporary nature of the engagement.
Use Migrate Mate to find employers actively filing TN petitions
Searching general job boards surfaces roles with no confirmed sponsorship path. Migrate Mate filters Creative Lead openings by employers with active TN visa sponsorship history, so you spend time on roles where the filing infrastructure already exists.
Prepare for consulate scrutiny if you hold a Mexican passport
Mexican TN applicants face a numerical cap and consular processing, which adds review time. Bring your degree transcripts, a credential evaluation if your degree is not from a Mexican or U.S. institution, and documentation tying your field of study to creative leadership.
Creative Lead TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Creative Lead role actually qualify for a TN visa?
It can, but the job title alone does not determine eligibility. TN visa categories are defined by USMCA's occupation list, and Creative Lead must map to a qualifying category such as Graphic Designer or Computer Systems Analyst. Your employer's offer letter needs to describe duties that align with that specific category, and your degree must match the field. Roles that blend strategy, branding, and cross-functional leadership can qualify, but the framing matters.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Creative Lead positions?
The TN visa has no lottery and no annual cap for Canadian citizens, which makes it far more predictable than the H-1B visa for most Creative Lead candidates. H-1B selection is random, delays employment by up to a year, and requires an employer to file months in advance. TN approval for Canadians can happen at the port of entry on the day you travel, provided your documentation is complete. Mexican citizens still face consular processing, but there is no lottery element.
What documentation does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer must provide a signed offer letter on company letterhead that specifies your job title, the qualifying TN occupation category, your duties, the wage offered, and the intended duration of employment. The letter should also confirm that the position is temporary and that you meet the educational requirements for the role. Vague or generic offer letters are a leading cause of TN delays or denials at the border.
Where can I find Creative Lead jobs where employers already understand TN sponsorship?
Most general job postings do not specify TN visa sponsorship, which means you spend significant time screening out roles that won't work. Migrate Mate is built specifically for this: it surfaces Creative Lead openings from employers with recent visa filings, so you can focus on applications where the hiring team already understands work visa sponsorship and is prepared to support your TN application with the required employer letter and documentation.
Can I switch Creative Lead employers while on TN status?
Yes, but you cannot simply start working for a new employer on your existing TN. Each TN is employer-specific. Canadian citizens can obtain new TN status at the port of entry with a new offer letter from the incoming employer. Mexican citizens must return to a U.S. consulate for a new TN visa stamp. You should not begin work with the new employer until the new TN is approved, so plan your transition timeline accordingly.
