Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Social Media Specialist
Align your degree to the role description
TN approval hinges on a clear match between your bachelor's degree field and the Social Media Specialist duties listed in the offer letter. A degree in communications, marketing, or digital media supports the specialty occupation argument better than a general business degree.
Request a TN-specific offer letter
Ask your prospective employer to draft an offer letter that describes your day-to-day duties in technical, degree-required terms. Vague language like 'manage social accounts' weakens your TN case; specifics like 'develop data-driven content strategy using analytics platforms' strengthens it.
Target employers with dedicated immigration HR teams
Mid-size and enterprise tech, media, and e-commerce companies process TN petitions routinely. Smaller agencies may not know TN from H-1B, so filtering for companies that have sponsored professional visas before saves you negotiation time after an offer.
Use Migrate Mate to find verified TN sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to identify Social Media Specialist roles at employers with recent visa filings and experience sponsoring work visas. Starting with employers already familiar with visa sponsorship processes cuts the back-and-forth of explaining TN requirements to HR teams encountering it for the first time.
Prepare for port-of-entry review as a Canadian
Canadian citizens apply for TN status directly at a U.S. port of entry with your offer letter, degree credentials, and a TN support letter from your employer. CBP officers make the admission decision on the spot, so your documentation must be complete and consistent before you travel.
Book your consular appointment early as a Mexican national
Mexican nationals must schedule a TN visa interview at a U.S. consulate, and appointment wait times vary significantly by location and season. Filing your DS-160 and securing your slot well before your start date prevents a delayed entry that costs you the offer.

Find Social Media Specialist JobsSocial Media Specialist TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Social Media Specialist role qualify for TN visa status?
It can, but approval depends on how the role is defined. TN status doesn't list 'Social Media Specialist' as an explicit category, so employers must frame the position under a qualifying USMCA occupation, typically 'Computer Systems Analyst' or a scientific technician role, and demonstrate that a bachelor's degree in a specific field is a standard requirement for the job.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Social Media Specialist roles?
TN has no lottery, no annual cap for Canadians, and no waiting period if your paperwork is in order at the port of entry. H-1B requires a lottery selection and a minimum six-month wait before you can start. For Social Media Specialists with qualifying degrees and a strong employer offer letter, TN is a faster and more predictable path than H-1B.
Where can I find Social Media Specialist jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate is built specifically for this search. It surfaces Social Media Specialist roles at employers with recent visa filings, so you're not guessing which companies have experience with visa sponsorship. Filtering by employer visa sponsorship history upfront avoids wasting time on applications at companies less likely to support your work authorization needs.
Can I switch Social Media Specialist employers while on TN status?
Yes, but you must obtain a new TN approval before starting with the new employer. Your TN status is tied to the specific employer named in your original admission. Canadians can go back to a port of entry with a new offer letter and documentation. Mexican nationals need to apply for a new TN visa at a U.S. consulate.
What documents does my employer need to provide for my TN application?
Your employer needs to provide a detailed offer letter on company letterhead that specifies your job title, duties, the USMCA professional category your role falls under, your salary, and your anticipated duration of employment. The letter should also confirm that your position requires at least a bachelor's degree in a relevant field, which is the core of the specialty occupation argument.
