INTRODUCTION
At Apple, we work every single day to craft products that enrich people’s lives! Do you love working on challenges that no one has solved yet? As a member of our dynamic group, you will have the unique and rewarding opportunity to shape upcoming products that will delight and inspire millions of Apple’s customers every day.
Our RF Systems Engineering team is looking for a passionate, self-motivated individual to work on overall system performance of multi-radio coexistence for various wireless technologies (e.g., Cellular, Wi-Fi, BT, GPS, NFC).
DESCRIPTION
You will be responsible for assessing multi-radio coexistence performance across Apple's wireless ecosystem. This role involves hands-on hardware engineering, cross-functional collaboration, and data-driven validation to ensure seamless coexistence across a diverse range of radio technologies. You will work closely with RF Test Engineers, chipset teams, and cross-functional partners to identify, debug, and resolve coexistence challenges - from early design stages through final product release.
Responsibilities
- Performing HW failure analysis at the RF/wireless system level to identify low-margin or failing behaviors, leveraging hands-on experimental hardware modifications.
- Proposing design and process changes to address multi-radio coexistence issues, considering design constraints and aligning with cross-functional partners on trade-offs and implementation paths.
- Reviewing designs and signing off on releases of PCB layouts, flex layouts, system-level grounding, shielding, and related components.
- Executing validation and characterization test plans to meet multi-radio coexistence performance targets.
- Tracking validation status, analyzing results, and communicating actionable insights from data.
- Evaluating multi-functional change requests, updating characterization plans as needed, and surfacing any emerging issues.
- Collaborating with RF Test Engineers on device bring-up, test setups, and test procedures for multi-radio coexistence validation.
- Performing experiments using hardware mock-ups, system prototypes, and experimental setups.
- Partnering with cross-functional teams on circuit-level and system-level simulations to identify risk areas and drive root cause analysis.
- Designing performance-based test setups and benchmarks to evaluate multi-radio coexistence across a range of coexistence scenarios.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s degree.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in electrical engineering.
- Experience with at least one radio technology: Cellular, GPS, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, Thread, NFC, or UWB.
- Knowledge of RF component characteristics and proficiency with lab equipment including spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, signal generators, and oscilloscopes.
- Knowledge of wireless architectures including front-end design, antenna sharing, and link budget line-up.
- Proven understanding of RF hardware and best practices for system-level grounding, shielding, isolation, and electromagnetic interference mitigation.
- Experience performing hands-on disassembly and system-level debug at the module, reference board, or system level.
- Experience debugging and optimizing conducted or radiated radio systems.
- Solid understanding of fundamental antenna theory.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.
PAY & BENEFITS
At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $126,800 and $220,900, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Hardware Engineer
Align your credentials to USMCA Engineer criteria
TN status requires a bachelor's degree or higher in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or a closely related field. If your degree title uses non-standard wording, get a credential evaluation that maps it explicitly to a recognized engineering discipline before applying.
Target employers with recent visa filing experience
Hardware Engineer roles require employer support and documentation at the U.S. port of entry (for Canadians) or consulate (for Mexicans). Search for employers with recent visa filings in engineering fields, which signals they're already experienced with work visa sponsorship processes and understand the requirements for supporting international talent.
Use Migrate Mate to find TN-ready hardware roles
Not all hardware engineering postings come from employers willing to sponsor TN status. Use Migrate Mate to filter specifically for Hardware Engineer positions where employers have demonstrated recent visa filing experience, saving you time qualifying each opportunity manually.
Clarify your specialty at the port of entry
CBP officers evaluate TN petitions on the spot for Canadians. Bring documentation that connects your specific hardware function, such as ASIC design or signal integrity analysis, to the Engineer USMCA category. Vague job offer letters are the most common reason for secondary inspection delays.
Ask employers about TN letter specificity before accepting an offer
Your TN support letter must describe prearranged professional services, your specific engineering role, and the duration of employment. Request a draft before your final acceptance so you can identify gaps in technical language that could trigger a CBP request for additional evidence.
Confirm E-Verify enrollment when switching hardware employers
If you're transferring TN status to a new hardware employer, confirm they're enrolled in E-Verify before your start date. Federal contractors and certain manufacturers are required to use E-Verify, and starting work before your new TN is issued can create status gaps that complicate future renewals.

Find Hardware Engineer JobsHardware Engineer TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Hardware Engineer job qualify for TN visa sponsorship?
Yes. Hardware Engineering falls under the Engineer category in the USMCA professional occupations list, which covers roles involving design, development, testing, and analysis of electronic hardware systems. Your job offer must describe work that requires at least a bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline, and your credential must match that requirement.
How does the TN visa compare to H-1B for Hardware Engineer roles?
TN has no annual lottery and no numerical cap for Canadian citizens, so you can apply any time a qualifying job offer is in hand. H-1B requires surviving a random lottery held once per year with limited odds. TN is employer-specific and role-specific, but for most hardware engineering positions the Engineering category maps cleanly, making TN a faster and more predictable path than H-1B.
Can I find Hardware Engineer jobs with TN sponsorship using Migrate Mate?
Yes. Migrate Mate is built specifically for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking U.S. roles with TN visa sponsorship. You can search Hardware Engineer positions from employers with recent visa filings and demonstrated experience sponsoring work visas, which filters out listings where sponsorship is unlikely despite not being explicitly excluded.
What documents do I need for a Hardware Engineer TN application at the Canadian border?
You'll need a valid Canadian passport, a detailed support letter from your U.S. employer on company letterhead describing the hardware engineering role and its connection to the USMCA Engineer category, proof of your qualifying degree, and any relevant professional credentials. CBP will review all of these on the spot, so the employer letter needs to be technically precise about your actual job duties.
Can a Mexican citizen apply for TN status as a Hardware Engineer?
Yes, but Mexican citizens must apply at a U.S. consulate in Mexico rather than at the border, and TN status for Mexican nationals is subject to an annual numerical limit. Processing involves a consular interview and standard nonimmigrant visa procedures. Applying early in the calendar year reduces the risk of reaching the cap before your start date.
