Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as a Healthcare Assistant
Verify your credentials meet TN requirements
Healthcare Assistant TN eligibility depends on your specific duties and credentials. Confirm your role aligns with a qualifying TN occupation category before applying, since job titles vary widely between employers and not all healthcare support roles qualify.
Target employers with recent visa filing experience
Search for healthcare employers with recent visa filings to identify facilities experienced with work visa sponsorship. Employers who have sponsored work visas before understand the sponsorship process and are far less likely to withdraw an offer over paperwork concerns. For TN status, remember that Canadian applicants present their offer letter and supporting documentation directly at the U.S. port of entry, while Mexican applicants apply through a U.S. consulate. The employer provides a support letter, and no advance government filing is required.
Ask about border processing timeline before accepting an offer
Your employer will prepare a support letter documenting the role details and your qualifications. For Canadian citizens, you'll present this letter at the U.S. border or port of entry; for Mexican citizens, your employer submits it with your application at a U.S. consulate. Ask during the offer stage how long their HR team typically takes to prepare this documentation so you can plan your start date accurately.
Prepare a credentials package tailored for border entry
Canadian citizens can apply for TN status directly at a U.S. port of entry. Bring your job offer letter, employer support letter, professional credentials, and any licensure documents in one organized packet so CBP officers can adjudicate your application efficiently.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring healthcare employers
Searching broadly for healthcare jobs wastes time when most postings don't mention TN sponsorship. Migrate Mate filters specifically for employers offering TN visa sponsorship, so you reach decision-makers at facilities already open to hiring Canadian and Mexican professionals.
Understand how Mexican TN applications differ from Canadian
Mexican citizens cannot apply at the border and must schedule a consular interview at a U.S. embassy in Mexico. Build extra time into your job start negotiations, since consular appointment availability varies significantly by location and season.

Find Healthcare Assistant JobsHealthcare Assistant TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does a Healthcare Assistant role qualify for a TN visa?
It depends on your specific job duties and how your employer titles the role. TN visa eligibility for healthcare support positions requires that the occupation maps to a qualifying USMCA category. Roles centered on direct patient support under clinical supervision are more likely to qualify than general administrative health positions. Confirm the exact classification with your employer's HR team before applying.
How does the TN visa compare to the H-1B for Healthcare Assistant positions?
The TN visa has no annual lottery and no cap for Canadian citizens, meaning you can apply anytime a qualifying job offer exists. The H-1B is capped at 85,000 annually and selected by random lottery, so most applicants wait years. For Healthcare Assistant roles that meet TN occupation criteria, the TN is faster, more predictable, and doesn't require employer sponsorship through a lengthy petition process with USCIS.
What documents does your employer need to sponsor your TN visa as a Healthcare Assistant?
Your employer prepares a support letter documenting your role, qualifications, and salary. Once completed, you'll need that support letter along with a detailed job offer letter, your professional credentials, and proof of Canadian or Mexican citizenship. Canadian citizens present these documents directly to U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) at a port of entry. Mexican citizens submit their application package to a U.S. consulate in Mexico.
How can you find Healthcare Assistant jobs that offer TN visa sponsorship?
Most job postings don't specify TN visa sponsorship, which makes filtering manually time-consuming. Migrate Mate is built specifically for TN visa job seekers and surfaces Healthcare Assistant roles at employers who are open to sponsoring Canadian and Mexican professionals, cutting out the guesswork of cold-applying to postings with no sponsorship clarity.
Can you switch Healthcare Assistant employers on a TN visa?
Yes, but your TN status is tied to a specific employer. Changing jobs requires your new employer to prepare a support letter for you. For Canadian citizens, you'll typically reapply for TN status at a U.S. port of entry with the new employer's documentation. For Mexican citizens, you'll apply at a U.S. consulate. You cannot simply transfer your existing TN to a new employer the way some other visa categories allow.
