Get Access To All JobsTips for Finding TN Visa Sponsorship as an Insurance Assistant
Confirm your degree aligns with the role
TN eligibility for Insurance Assistants depends on your degree matching the job's specialty area. A finance or actuarial science degree supports underwriting-adjacent roles more cleanly than a general business credential, which can draw CBP scrutiny.
Target insurers experienced with visa sponsorship
Carriers and brokerages with recent visa filings for H-1B visa, E-3 visa, or green card sponsorship have demonstrated experience navigating work visa processes. These employers typically move faster and ask fewer procedural questions during the offer stage, since they're already familiar with visa sponsorship requirements.
Get your credential evaluation done early
Mexican professionals with degrees from Mexican universities should obtain a credential evaluation before applying. CBP officers at land ports and consular officers need documentation showing your degree is equivalent to a U.S. bachelor's in a qualifying field.
Clarify TN eligibility before accepting an offer
Ask the hiring manager whether the Insurance Assistant role requires a degree in a specific field as a baseline condition of employment. Roles that accept any bachelor's degree regardless of field can fail the specialty occupation standard at the border.
Use Migrate Mate to find sponsoring employers
Search Migrate Mate to filter Insurance Assistant openings by employers who have TN visa sponsorship history. That narrows your list to companies that won't need an education session on the process before extending you an offer.
Prepare a TN support letter before your border crossing
Canadian citizens presenting at a land port of entry need a detailed employer support letter describing the Insurance Assistant role, your qualifying degree, and the TN classification being sought. CBP officers make the final determination on the spot.
Insurance Assistant TN Visa: Frequently Asked Questions
Does an Insurance Assistant role qualify for TN visa status?
It depends on how the role is structured. TN status requires the position to fall under a USMCA-listed occupation and demand a specific degree in a qualifying field. Insurance Assistant roles tied to actuarial science, accounting, or financial analysis typically qualify. Generalist administrative support roles that don't require a specialty degree usually don't.
How does TN compare to H-1B for Insurance Assistant positions?
TN is faster and has no lottery, which makes it a stronger option for Insurance Assistant roles when the position qualifies. H-1B requires registration in an annual lottery with no guarantee of selection. Canadians can get TN approved at the border in a single visit. Mexicans apply at a consulate, which still avoids the H-1B lottery entirely.
What documents does a Canadian Insurance Assistant need at the border?
You need a valid Canadian passport, a detailed employer support letter describing the Insurance Assistant role and TN classification, your original degree certificate or transcripts, and any professional licenses relevant to the position. CBP reviews these on the spot and issues TN status if approved. Bring organized copies of everything in case the officer asks for clarification.
Where can I find Insurance Assistant jobs with TN visa sponsorship?
Migrate Mate lists Insurance Assistant roles specifically filtered for Canadian and Mexican professionals seeking TN visa sponsorship. Searching there connects you with employers who have already indicated willingness to sponsor, which shortens the process significantly compared to approaching companies that have never handled a TN filing.
How does the TN process differ for Mexican versus Canadian Insurance Assistants?
Canadian citizens apply directly at a U.S. port of entry and receive a decision the same day. Mexican citizens must apply at a U.S. consulate in Mexico and schedule an appointment in advance, which adds several weeks to the timeline. Both nationalities require the same underlying documentation, but Mexicans receive a TN visa stamp while Canadians receive an I-94 record at the border.
